Sand/organic top soil sand/ ecoearth
Esc
It’s not a big deal
If you tong feed or bowl feedb
It avoids any risks
Yeah. I get that a lot. I've owned 4 Leo's, including kakarot and none of them are the sand. Also, that's part of the reason we feed every couple of days, so the sand that she may ingest can pass safely
She hates tongs
ah
And she likes to chase her food
I spent a few months training my leopard and leachie gecko to tong feed insects
My banded and cave gecko refuse to
They’re way to shy
I’m hoping I can squeeze 20 years out of my leopard gecko
I got her at about 1-2 years old. She was under weight and was living on bark substrate. Once I gave her sand, she was soooo active
He has uvb/bioactive enclosure I monitor his weight weekly and give him a variety of diet
So the bitch better live 20 years
Or I will be severely disappointed
lol
Also, I do use calc sand. And I completely remove everything and thoroughly sift and turn the sand about every 6 months. Though I think I need to change the sand out completely and put in fresh
Okay
Uh
I highly advise against calci sand
A it’s highly unnatural b it’s the leading cause of impaction c it physically can’t be passed
It clumps up and gets stuck
Play sand from Lowe’s is safer lol
Again, never had an issue. I monitor them carefully when I first put it in. If in the first 3 days they don't just eat the sand, I know they're good and not stupid. Lol
All my Leo's have loved rubbing into the sand and laying in it.
I get what you're saying. As I said, I get that a lot, but I am grateful that you haven't suggested that fucking carpet
lol no
It’s bacteria ridden
And looks ugly as hell
I hate solid substrates
They usually cause joint problems for animals
Well atleast tile does
Plus at pet stores, I've seen the babies claws get hooked in the shit and no one fucking notices
Just repticarperts are impossible to clean
And yeah
I always try to make bioactive enclosures
(Where the enclosure is self cleaning and has live plants and such
Sadly I can't do all that, mostly financial reasons. But she likes the fake desert plants and the rocks. I put rough edged rocks in to help her shed and one large flat one to put her house on. It's right on the undertank heat pad.
