They’re way to shy

2018-08-28 03:41:29 UTC

I’m hoping I can squeeze 20 years out of my leopard gecko

2018-08-28 03:41:36 UTC

I got her at about 1-2 years old. She was under weight and was living on bark substrate. Once I gave her sand, she was soooo active

2018-08-28 03:42:09 UTC

He has uvb/bioactive enclosure I monitor his weight weekly and give him a variety of diet

2018-08-28 03:42:15 UTC

So the bitch better live 20 years

2018-08-28 03:42:20 UTC

Or I will be severely disappointed

2018-08-28 03:42:22 UTC

lol

2018-08-28 03:43:26 UTC

Also, I do use calc sand. And I completely remove everything and thoroughly sift and turn the sand about every 6 months. Though I think I need to change the sand out completely and put in fresh

2018-08-28 03:43:40 UTC

Wow there

2018-08-28 03:43:41 UTC

Okay

2018-08-28 03:43:44 UTC

Uh

2018-08-28 03:43:50 UTC

I highly advise against calci sand

2018-08-28 03:44:24 UTC

A it’s highly unnatural b it’s the leading cause of impaction c it physically can’t be passed

2018-08-28 03:44:29 UTC

It clumps up and gets stuck

2018-08-28 03:44:51 UTC

Play sand from Lowe’s is safer lol

2018-08-28 03:45:47 UTC

Again, never had an issue. I monitor them carefully when I first put it in. If in the first 3 days they don't just eat the sand, I know they're good and not stupid. Lol

2018-08-28 03:47:47 UTC

All my Leo's have loved rubbing into the sand and laying in it.

I get what you're saying. As I said, I get that a lot, but I am grateful that you haven't suggested that fucking carpet

2018-08-28 03:47:53 UTC

lol no

2018-08-28 03:47:58 UTC

It’s bacteria ridden

2018-08-28 03:48:02 UTC

And looks ugly as hell

2018-08-28 03:48:07 UTC

I hate solid substrates

2018-08-28 03:48:22 UTC

They usually cause joint problems for animals

2018-08-28 03:48:39 UTC

Well atleast tile does

2018-08-28 03:48:49 UTC

Plus at pet stores, I've seen the babies claws get hooked in the shit and no one fucking notices

2018-08-28 03:48:51 UTC

Just repticarperts are impossible to clean

2018-08-28 03:49:00 UTC

And yeah

2018-08-28 03:49:17 UTC

I always try to make bioactive enclosures

2018-08-28 03:49:27 UTC

(Where the enclosure is self cleaning and has live plants and such

2018-08-28 03:51:24 UTC

Sadly I can't do all that, mostly financial reasons. But she likes the fake desert plants and the rocks. I put rough edged rocks in to help her shed and one large flat one to put her house on. It's right on the undertank heat pad.

2018-08-28 03:52:31 UTC

Atleast you use a undertank heat pad lol

2018-08-28 03:53:34 UTC

I also have heat lamps, but my aunt and uncle keep them off so often, cause of my aunt's migraines, that she practically stays in her house 24/7

2018-08-28 03:55:12 UTC

I love her. We got her for me when I ear REALLY depressed and she helped to bring me out of my room and makes me smile more, cause she's always smiling at me

2018-08-28 03:57:33 UTC

nice

2018-08-28 03:57:44 UTC

I got my leopard gecko because I wanted a tegu

2018-08-28 03:57:49 UTC

And settled for a leopard

2018-08-28 03:58:04 UTC

Then found out I really like geckos

2018-08-28 03:59:20 UTC

I got my first leo, chekita, on a whim. I had ordered a Mexican red leg sling and had a tank from a previous tarantula. But they had the Leos on sale for 20$

2018-08-28 03:59:35 UTC

I'd like to own a tarantula but not allowed

2018-08-28 03:59:36 UTC

lol
