They're very, very protected or didn't grow up in a very good home
Lol we just gave my 5 year old nephew the birds and bees talk
He insisted his mom has balls
I've known about that stuff since 5 so, yeah
Oh my god
My mom has been very open about things like that
Yeah we saw no need to hold back
Yeah I mean I grew up knowing nothing because my only exposure was my parents and youtube
He thought we were lying though lol
Like literally youtube gave me the talk
I wake up to this. Interesting
Like, if my kid asks and I feel they're old enough I'll explain it
Yeah
And by that I mean if they're 5 and up I'll explain it and answer their questions
Like I'll be open to allow good communication but I will have rules and stuff like that
I'll give my kid the talk when they're around 7 or 8 probably but if they ask questions I'll explain and if I feel they're ready sooner I will
Yeah, that's what I'll do too
tbh my whole parenting plan is don't be my parents because like y'know they kinda suck
It's only fair for them to know if they're curious
He was confused so w.e
I don't want to be as overly protective as my step dad
Yeah
But I want to still be some form of protective
Like I'll allow them to hang out with friends and stuff
I don't want to be as protective as my mom cause that caused me to learn to lie to do shit but I don't want to be as not protective as my dad who let that stuff happen so I got put into some bad situations
But I'll message them occasionally to make sure everything's alright and to make sure they're doing Okay
And things like that
I won't stop them from hanging out with their friends in a public setting when they're teens
Yeah that's reasonable
Or even at their friends house when I know an adult is gonna be there
Yeah
And I'll make sure my kid/s know it's Okay if they need me to pick them up or something
Like I'll be there
My moms always been that way
But the woman is kinda ahead of her time
Shes almost 50
My mom would let me hang out with friends and stuff
It's my step dad that stops it the majority of the time
My mom made a deal with me since I have aspies when I was in high school
Like he wouldn't even let me go to pride at the end of the year last year because it was a public event and he didn't want me to go
