OH my god

2019-10-11 06:28:37 UTC

Tanning is bad for you because you don't tan until the damage is already done. That said, tanning is culturally associated with aesthetically pleasing looks. So people will do it anyways because they want to look good, however irrational the thought of tanning and damaging your skin is.

2019-10-11 06:28:38 UTC

You're one of those that think cancer didnt exist until recently, huh?

2019-10-11 06:28:41 UTC

>skin cancer didn't exist before we knew about it

... Yes it did tho...

2019-10-11 06:28:44 UTC

LOL

2019-10-11 06:28:55 UTC

First of all, cancer existed

2019-10-11 06:28:56 UTC

I never said it didn't exist retard re read

2019-10-11 06:28:59 UTC

SECOND OF ALL

2019-10-11 06:29:00 UTC

Cancer is what happens when damaged cells heal put of control.

2019-10-11 06:29:10 UTC

WE died from other diseases and conditions first that we didnt know how to treat

2019-10-11 06:29:13 UTC

"idn't get skin cancer before very much at all "

2019-10-11 06:29:31 UTC

Just because the cancer wasn't killing us back then, because other things would kill you first

2019-10-11 06:29:31 UTC

lmao

2019-10-11 06:29:41 UTC

tbf you tended to die young back then. So many people didn't even get to the age when cancer would show up.

2019-10-11 06:29:54 UTC

is cancer the stuff that makes u poop out ur but?

2019-10-11 06:30:17 UTC

<:FeelsKek:379422423206068245> when in actuality more and more often people are getting cancer at young ages

2019-10-11 06:30:22 UTC

Skin cancer from the sun happens more often in older ages unless you've been actively tanning or using tanning booths

2019-10-11 06:30:34 UTC

really doesn't add up for the life expectancy argument

2019-10-11 06:30:45 UTC

shit just happens eventually

2019-10-11 06:30:53 UTC

Granted the risk factor now more than ever, thanks to the hole in our ozone

2019-10-11 06:30:54 UTC

like all men will get prostate cancer cause you have one

2019-10-11 06:31:01 UTC

Yeah. But throw in a society that had medically progressed into eliminating other causes of death and add culture that finds the tan look desirable and people might live long enough to develop skin cancer more often and be conditioned to go out and risk it.

2019-10-11 06:31:18 UTC

Source: from a country with a gaping hole in the ozone layer above my head.

2019-10-11 06:31:30 UTC

pretty sure it wasn't just the "tan is desirable" meme otherwise we'd all be tan and europe wouldn't be white.

2019-10-11 06:31:40 UTC

Tanning

2019-10-11 06:31:42 UTC

Is not

2019-10-11 06:31:44 UTC

Genetic

2019-10-11 06:31:51 UTC

I never said that life expectancy mattered to cancer. Only that because you tended to die young back then a lot of people didn't get to live the long ages we do now. Usually, once you reached adulthood, you tended to live a very long life, not counting military deaths and shit.

2019-10-11 06:31:51 UTC

no shit

2019-10-11 06:31:55 UTC

<:FeelsKek:379422423206068245>

2019-10-11 06:31:56 UTC

That said a lot of kids died young.

2019-10-11 06:31:57 UTC

The average ages for getting most cancers is in your 60's-70's

2019-10-11 06:31:59 UTC

Unless you're Irish, then not tanning isn't genetic

2019-10-11 06:32:00 UTC

and that's today btw

2019-10-11 06:32:08 UTC

We werent living that long not so long ago

2019-10-11 06:32:13 UTC

northern europeans literally have to drink milk to acquire vitamin D

2019-10-11 06:32:26 UTC

I mean not really, but okay.

2019-10-11 06:32:30 UTC

that's why they are so pale and white why they NEED milk

2019-10-11 06:32:45 UTC

Seabass I fail to see how this is relevant to you saying tanning is good for you

2019-10-11 06:32:52 UTC

And you've yet to provide sources

2019-10-11 06:32:57 UTC

Other than saying "muh vitamin d tho"
