speaking as an American
the EU is far better
No it isn't
>the PRC rapes Muzzies in Xinjiang
>Social Credit System
The EU is disrupting the Democratic traditions of the UK, China has not done anything to damage democracy in the UK
>Winnie the Pooh is banned
>Peppa Pig is banned
The EU is doing nothing of the sort. @The Electric Lizard
It works in a way that undermines Democracy of the nation state
In what way? @The Electric Lizard
>hopefully Verhofstadt can leave his position at some point in the next 1000 years
It means that the people deciding our laws in the EU parliament will not be elected by our electorate and cannot be removed by our electorate
We vote in MEPs.
Only some
Whom have the ability to remove people.
And vote on all legislation.
Most are elected by other countries
Who can vote against our MEP's
I'd like to have the EU AND China fuck off a bit, I don't know why it has to be one or the other.
We are an independent nation, We should not be forced to adopt policy because of people elected by other nations
> We are an independent nation
No we're not?
We're a member of the European Union.
We should be
We voted to be
Which is why i want to Leave
> We should not be forced to adopt policy because of people elected by other nations
We have the ability to implement policy as we see fit
As long as it meets some requirements
Policy that WE have the ability to veto.
European Communities Act makes the law passed by MEP's superior to our own
We can veto ANY EU legislation, if we don't, we're fine with it.
actually we did not vote to be part of the EU
Yet our PM has the ability to veto any legislation @The Electric Lizard
We did @wacka
This again lol
we joined the EEC ... and voted to stay in that
I have complete contempt for those wanting to allow 16-17 years old the vote, and EU nationals. Only British Adults should be allowd to vote. Either wait to be an adult, or become a British Citizen.
We can veto it, But our MP's have been shown to lie about their position on the EU so i wouldn't be surprised if against the publics wishes the Government decided to give away our veto
And then voted in governments and a parliament which accepted the expansion of the EU @wacka
