the EU was far more powerful than current canon
because you had like Planet-Busting Relativistic Jedi who had FTL reactions and shit
which were like....generic Jedi Masters (IE Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, etc)
and then the mid-tiers were Sith with like....artifact that could fucking yeet Stars out of existence
and then you had the top-tiers
which were like Solar-System busters
(Brakiss being a baseline, as he could manipulate the energy of stars)

who were like multiple times stronger than Brakiss who was capable to drawing energy from stars
EU went overboard with all manner of writers; suitably over-the-top and unrestricted.
But when it comes to canon, you don't expect nor demand such faults.
