Actually false in the UK
A pressure pad and conveyer belt can do 90% of the job a regular cashier can
Have you ever been to a modern store?
Sainsbury and Tesco on average have equal otherwise more self checkouts than manned tills
They never have all the lanes active at once
It's only a couple
The self checkouts always operate at maximum capacity
Its pretty much a basket worth's at most, no shopping trolleys, there's no way to reliably automate the number of shoppers wanting 400 items going through 20 times an hour lol
Bring us forward
And those are few and far between
And they can bring in people who are actually not shit at their job to do that
Actually false as well OTG
As opposed to min wage hirwlings
Imagine a fully automated store, no cahiers, would just be a free for all for thieves
You don't fully automate
But security is still there
In the UK sainsbury they have these scanners you pick up as you go into the shop and you scan items in as you put them in your trolley, then pay for it at the end
And they already get payed over min wage
What would stop anyone from just taking a trolley, filling up and waltzing out, lol
You know at the door
You literally walk out at the end after paying and putting the scanner back
Those scanner thinga
self checkout is trash
With the alarm
The alarm dude
lol, they are a scam
People trialled it it works legity
it works so well, thats why i hate it
And anyways they always have an employee keeping an eye on the self check out lanes
For example I know in one it was something simple (a packet of crisps) and it caught it
only the stuff with the magnets on them set a scanner off
And yet when a scanner goes off in sainsburys nobody comes running
They have security cameras and stuff too
In retail stores I've worked in there's always a security dude by the scanner
I think you are equating one small store to all retail stores improperly
Literally talking out of your ass though dude- these things are already in existence and working in the UK
I'll go get the link for it
People are so set on there always being a lower class that doesn't earn much and barely scrapes by, while companies make billions, resisting anyone who says "Maybe its not such a good thing to have so many poor people"
Literally an app and a scanner gun
