EU tariffs impact our imports

2019-10-26 21:38:04 UTC

because the EU is protectionist

2019-10-26 21:38:08 UTC

More than the exports

2019-10-26 21:38:19 UTC

It’s really not that hard to understand

2019-10-26 21:38:23 UTC

> Switzerland's economic and trade relations with the EU are mainly governed through a series of bilateral agreements where Switzerland has agreed to take over certain aspects of EU legislation in exchange for accessing part of the EU's single market.

2019-10-26 21:38:59 UTC

> The EU is Switzerland's main trading partner, whereas Switzerland is the EU's third trading partner after the USA and China.

2019-10-26 21:40:00 UTC

Again, protectionism is to protect against imports

2019-10-26 21:40:07 UTC

You never block your own exports

2019-10-26 21:40:37 UTC

Unless you want to keep your own products in the country

2019-10-26 21:40:43 UTC

And sell to domestic markets

2019-10-26 21:40:48 UTC

But that’s not really the case here

2019-10-26 21:43:44 UTC

interesting.. more than half of all EU exports to other EU countries goes to the UK

2019-10-26 21:44:17 UTC
2019-10-26 21:45:31 UTC

ah ok, outside EU vs inside EU.. that makes more sense

2019-10-26 21:45:39 UTC

cos... protectionism...

2019-10-26 21:45:55 UTC

(also physical location)

2019-10-26 21:46:38 UTC

It’s also because EU countries are big markets

2019-10-26 21:47:00 UTC

UK germany and france... thats about it really :/

2019-10-26 21:47:10 UTC

Italy is a big economy

2019-10-26 21:47:25 UTC

That’s 4 already in the top 10 economies of the world

2019-10-26 21:47:36 UTC

All in the EU

2019-10-26 21:47:53 UTC

Maybe not Italy in the top 10 I can’t remember that one exactly

2019-10-26 21:47:55 UTC

Eastern Europe is a massive emerging market.. What are you talking about?

2019-10-26 21:48:02 UTC

yeah italy is

2019-10-26 21:48:02 UTC

But they are a big economy

2019-10-26 21:48:19 UTC

And yea Eastern Europe has amazing growth

2019-10-26 21:48:22 UTC

They're going through large economic growth and increased wages..

2019-10-26 21:48:27 UTC

Meaning, they buy more shit

2019-10-26 21:48:31 UTC

And we can easily invest in them..

2019-10-26 21:48:36 UTC

*Until Brexit* 🙂

2019-10-26 21:49:03 UTC

well according to you China is buying them all... as far I know China is not an EU member

2019-10-26 21:49:21 UTC

China is investing everywhere

2019-10-26 21:49:21 UTC

you dont need to be in the EU to be a player in the game

2019-10-26 21:49:38 UTC

Urmmm what game

2019-10-26 21:49:47 UTC

you know what I mean

2019-10-26 21:49:50 UTC

I hate it when brexiteers just wonder into vague BS

2019-10-26 21:49:52 UTC

I think it's worth mentioning the motive behind the survey about violence towards MPs. The aim is fairly obviously to put pressure on people to dial down the use of such factually correct words as 'traitor' or 'surrender', it's not about the incredibly small real threat of violence. An effort to stop people with a valid point using impactful language to express it.

2019-10-26 21:49:58 UTC

Not in Eastern Europe @wacka

2019-10-26 21:50:03 UTC

Mainly in Western Europe at the moment

2019-10-26 21:50:12 UTC

Heavily in the UK for example.
