He just does some strange rhetoric, doesn't address AH's criticism directly
Deflection, like a politician
He claims predictability in psychology doesn't exist because there's never a 1:1 replicability
This is absolutely wrong, there are in fact many 1:1 predictins when STDev is taken into account
@Monstrous Moonshine well IQ is one of the biggest predictors if success in life
It's THE number one predictor
^
I mean yeah you can question it sure, I’m sure there is some debate over it
But for a layman like me I just assume it is pretty important
actually, no. the #1 is family background.
IQ is simply #1 of psychological traits
No, it's still IQ
I'm trying to find the source for this
That being said, the growth mindset may actually outperform even IQ
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2015/10/what-is-the-best-predictor-of-success/
But that is yet to be proven
k, so i stand corrected.
but i would think that the "growth mindset" is Trait: Conscientiousness: Industriousness ... which *does* lag behind IQ
at least as i understand it
This article here claims to know a few of the traits that also help for success
https://www.forbes.com/sites/briannawiest/2018/04/23/8-traits-that-are-scientifically-proven-to-predict-future-success/#1dcc0360655a
So it's not "IQ = success" and it's also not "low IQ = bad chances"
And it's also not "high IQ = good chances"
It's just one, and the strongest, of all known variables
Other factors could override IQ both positively and negatively
But one things's for sure
You do not want low IQ, even though it's not gonna determine your ultimate fate, it's best to have high IQ
basically
@Snake Yeah, that's a pretty elementary fact. What JF argues is that intelligence is more than IQ and that IQ only covers part of it. For instance, a Japanese and a Danish guy, both with IQ of 135, say, would be varied in their creativity, abstract vs geometric thinking etc.
IQ covers visual thinking, which includes space/geometry
It also covers abstract thinking
Same with creativity, which is simply the ability to, for example, invent the wheel, i.e. arrange information in a new and useful context
Basically IQ covers most if not perhaps all areas of fluid intelligence, the main limitation is the ability of researchers to create optimized IQ tests
One could argue that language and hearing are perhaps the most unexplored areas, and I would agree
Or maybe touch as well
Smelling
Most if not perhaps all IQ tests work visually
So it's possible that people have higher IQ than estimated because the other senses aren't explored in IQ testing
So. Things we should try hard to get to happen:
Make Both Mei from Overwatch a massive symbol of the Hong Kong Resistance, as well as Micky Mouse to take that Disney money away.
Make the ADL logo a white supremicist/alt right symbol and Meme.
ADoLf
Coincidence? I think not <:thunk:462282216467333140>
Exactly! We need to get this to happen!
Make it a meme, make it go viral, make it go mainstream.
And then.
We watch the ADL have to twist themselves into knots, and either shoot themselves in the foot and destroy there arguments for everything they've done in the last several years, or get stuck having to change there logo!
