Correct, Weez.
This was the realization of the US centuries ago, in seeking to ratify the US Constitution.
In Jeremys example, obviously not everyone is the same, but the majority is significantly better than they were.
Which is what matters.
Well when I mean state action here’s the thing; there is always going to be a desire for a independent nation state. I think we can look at Yugoslavia, Croatia wanted its own state. Some of those individually minded people might think the EU is more like a super state consolidating power
Nationalism is what I mean
Finding the balance between federalization and states-rights is what's important
Social cohesion is also very important, it went down because of the migrant crisis
Thanks to American influence in the ME 😉
Economically speaking, you can find one of the greatest motives in the Interstate Commerce Clause, eliminating the ability for States to impose tariffs, which were causing artificial supply shortages and surpluses from State to State. During that time, artificial supply shortages meant each State was facing starvation due to some lacking ability to import goods from another State which had a surplus of said good, and vice versa. When it came to food, that meant surpluses rotted away to waste, while your next door neighbor starved to death.
Something a strong EU might have been able to influence
Well didn’t Merkel invite all of those people in?
*Kinda* but not really
The thing is that my main criticism of the EU is that the people in power
She invited in the migrants which were already in Europe, to Germany
Not necessarily the idea of the system itself
We have both a system and the people, it might be a good car with a shitty driver
The current issues facing the EU mainly stem from the EU having a lack of power
Meanwhile, Europe was too busy guarding internal borders, leaving the Southern region to be defended by the Peshmerga. <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898>
But uh, I’m going to eat, it was a interesting conversation guys. I’ll come back to it
Couldn't even guard its own regional border.
Sad.
Left to Iraqi women to defend.

And you wonder why your countries have a problem with immigration.
How do you enforce it when you have a shortage of both resources and institutional infrastructure required to defend your regional borders, while you waste what you have guarding your internal ones?
It'd be like the US trying to resolve its illegal crossing issue by guarding the internal borders of all 50 States.
What an inefficient waste of resources.
Yep
That's why a USE is the answer to immigration concerns.
USE?
United States of Europe.
Ah, yes.

You just can't escape that US influence.
We did it first. 😉
