my guess is, they plan to finally "agree" to no backstop ... then years later say, we told you!

2019-09-17 17:48:30 UTC

EU plays the long game

2019-09-17 17:48:52 UTC

that's all it can do if it dont collapse before

2019-09-17 17:48:59 UTC

*which it should*

2019-09-17 17:49:06 UTC

but tbh.... if absolutely neccessary... we built a wall in like.. 2015 for about £2m in like.. 2 weeks... so...

2019-09-17 17:49:20 UTC

2mill? Damn that's cheap

2019-09-17 17:49:28 UTC

better be electrified

2019-09-17 17:49:32 UTC

and we built it in france

2019-09-17 17:49:45 UTC

no its concrete with razor wire on top

2019-09-17 17:50:08 UTC

noice

2019-09-17 17:50:48 UTC

ironically it was around the time of Trumps rallies when he was saying build a wall... and UK lefties were saying who would do such a thing 😛

2019-09-17 18:15:10 UTC

So is that settled then?

2019-09-17 18:17:21 UTC

We wait a couple more days and see what the SC says

2019-09-17 18:18:02 UTC

The supreme court will likely say "this is politics" and tell Scotland to "fuck off"

2019-09-17 18:26:23 UTC

this is the patriarchy that women think is oppressing them https://twitter.com/klara_sjo/status/1174025213773791232?s=20

2019-09-17 18:29:57 UTC

ngl that looks fun

2019-09-17 18:48:40 UTC

Id be ok with it if all it did was check people against a list of official terrorists or people who are on arrest warrents

2019-09-17 18:50:23 UTC

More spying, who could have guessed.

2019-09-17 18:50:27 UTC

Disgusting.

2019-09-17 18:51:37 UTC

If all it did was check against some terrorist list... so it kept nothing on me whatsoever... i dunno, seems like a smaller thing

2019-09-17 18:52:59 UTC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdytusXDozM This Jeff guy is pretty good

2019-09-17 18:53:14 UTC

The bit at the end of the video is very very interesting

2019-09-17 18:54:12 UTC

maybe one step further... maybe... if all cameras around london(or UK) basically had a list of recently released prisoners... like 6month-1yr (they dont tell anyone the exact time, its random for each person)... and cameras can keep an eye on released prisoners in public spaces

2019-09-17 18:56:52 UTC

No one should have that kind of "orwellian" power ... because it will be abused eventually and dictatorships really love any way to control their population. Neighboring GDR had their Stasi and they would have loved to have such technology.

2019-09-17 18:57:48 UTC

well they already keep an eye on prisoners out on bail... they are supposed to be heavily restricted as is

2019-09-17 18:58:25 UTC

but under the UK parliament... they would have to vote in such an orwellian party

2019-09-17 18:58:36 UTC

Yes ... but there is always the tactic of "just one tiny step more" ... and thousands of them make up a mile.

2019-09-17 18:59:01 UTC

So the only sensible way is categoric NO!

2019-09-17 18:59:25 UTC

i dunno... if it saves some lives id be ok with it.... its not like theres a human watching over all of them...

2019-09-17 18:59:41 UTC

You CAN follow criminals other ways too ... LOOK FOR THEM by using police officers, but that is MORE EXPENSIVE!

2019-09-17 18:59:53 UTC

just an AI using facial rec with only a list of some people for a certain length of time

2019-09-17 19:00:18 UTC

Using "people" is not really abuseable ... or at least it is harder to.

2019-09-17 19:00:52 UTC

the only time it would even be used is like... if there is an actual crime against someone

2019-09-17 19:01:15 UTC

Sure, "its just an AI" ... but PEOPLE (who might want to abuse it) have to program it. Just watch "Enemy of the State" for a scenario.

2019-09-17 19:01:38 UTC

the AI says - Oh recently release Mohammed al-Islam was in the area recently released from prison a month ago for terrorism plots just before the bomb went off...

2019-09-17 19:02:38 UTC

what you are saying... is that people will use it underhandedly... well... if the tech exists then that will already be happening... im talking about legally

2019-09-17 19:04:09 UTC

The point I am arguing is that the CAMERAS are the problem ... and the UK should revert to THE BOBBY ON THE BEAT ... but that is a bit more expensive even though cameras cant prevent anything while policemen being near might.

2019-09-17 19:04:35 UTC

Cameras are used because they are CHEAPER ... it is a COST CUTTING MEASURE!

2019-09-17 19:04:53 UTC

cameras are good evidence for solving crimes... not to mention preventative
