Uses a mix of very smartly streamlined stats a la shadowrun 5e for pilots and similarly improved alphastrike rules for 'mechs (with a section for normal 'mech combat as well)
Items also have no formal rules- you can use your field radio, laspistol, or can of beans however you damn well please.
The exception being things like vehicles and things connected to vehicles
