Castle doesn't need people to operate it
and gotta pay the lord who has the troops
It's literally just a structure
or buy some vitamins
A castle wall still keeps people out fairly well if the gate is locked; Whether or not it's occupied.
or a water filter
@Eirshy wrong
@π―ππ_πΆππππππππ if its not occupied, people just get ladders
@Eirshy a castle without the manpower to defend it doesn't satisfy the purpose of being a castle
True enough; And those ladders are Pirates.
Literally mot and bailery
bailey*
>tmw Steam purchases are that the base game includes only the first "chapter" of content and the rest of the game is piecemeal DLC with no DRM necessary
It's a castle which is unoccupied most of the time till shit goes down
@Eirshy mot and baileys aren't all that a castle is
then you retreat into it
Motte and Bailey
Look my point is that a castle doesn't oppress anyone by *existing*
It can situationally do so
@Eirshy castles are also social centers, housing, tools of power projection, military installations, and storage space
that's not how the English saw it
okay, let me rephrase this then, eirshy
*garrisoned fortifications*
Even garrisoned it doesn't necessarily oppress those around it
DRM always oppresses the legitimate user
It physically *cannot **not*** oppress the legitimate user
What was it... the Brits built castles throughout Wales, one line forward at a time, because the Welsh couldn't bust castles and over time the Welsh civilians acclimated to the English in their towns.
@UnfilteredGarbage i'll talk about this more in a bit, busy rn
Victory Through Incessant Occupation
@Calbeck thats actually what i think is the best plan for solving the sandland problem, but russia/china would complain
yup
@Eirshy the people who have a vested interest in not having the game pirated are still legitimate users of the game software, though. DRM oppresses 99% of its audience for the benefit of the designer, just like a castle in that regard.
Syria: people forget that Russia's there because the Assad regime provides them with Russia's ONLY Mediterranean port, and losing it would fly in the face of their national aims/goals going back to the goddamn Ottoman era
@UnfilteredGarbage No, because the *castle itself is not oppressing anyone*
Additionally
@UnfilteredGarbage we need to rephrase this for his tiny brain
THe castle isn't treating the peasants as enemies
*standing guards*
Putin is not going to lose a key power-projection base for the Russian Navy, no matter how technically valueless it really is.
