gotta pay the troops somehow

2019-09-29 03:59:58 UTC

Castle doesn't need people to operate it

2019-09-29 04:00:01 UTC

and gotta pay the lord who has the troops

2019-09-29 04:00:06 UTC

It's literally just a structure

2019-09-29 04:00:09 UTC

or buy some vitamins

A castle wall still keeps people out fairly well if the gate is locked; Whether or not it's occupied.

2019-09-29 04:00:13 UTC

or a water filter

2019-09-29 04:00:19 UTC

@Eirshy wrong

2019-09-29 04:00:37 UTC

@Eirshy a castle without the manpower to defend it doesn't satisfy the purpose of being a castle

True enough; And those ladders are Pirates.

2019-09-29 04:00:51 UTC

Literally mot and bailery

2019-09-29 04:00:54 UTC

bailey*

2019-09-29 04:01:04 UTC

>tmw Steam purchases are that the base game includes only the first "chapter" of content and the rest of the game is piecemeal DLC with no DRM necessary

2019-09-29 04:01:07 UTC

It's a castle which is unoccupied most of the time till shit goes down

2019-09-29 04:01:08 UTC

@Eirshy mot and baileys aren't all that a castle is

2019-09-29 04:01:12 UTC

then you retreat into it

2019-09-29 04:01:35 UTC

Motte and Bailey

2019-09-29 04:01:38 UTC

Look my point is that a castle doesn't oppress anyone by *existing*

2019-09-29 04:01:48 UTC

It can situationally do so

2019-09-29 04:01:51 UTC

@Eirshy castles are also social centers, housing, tools of power projection, military installations, and storage space

2019-09-29 04:01:52 UTC

but it doesn't in and of itself

2019-09-29 04:01:54 UTC

that's not how the English saw it

2019-09-29 04:01:58 UTC

okay, let me rephrase this then, eirshy

2019-09-29 04:02:09 UTC

@Calbeck Fucking brittish spellings lol

2019-09-29 04:02:09 UTC

*garrisoned fortifications*

2019-09-29 04:03:07 UTC

Even garrisoned it doesn't necessarily oppress those around it

2019-09-29 04:03:18 UTC

DRM always oppresses the legitimate user

2019-09-29 04:03:38 UTC

It physically *cannot **not*** oppress the legitimate user

2019-09-29 04:03:47 UTC

What was it... the Brits built castles throughout Wales, one line forward at a time, because the Welsh couldn't bust castles and over time the Welsh civilians acclimated to the English in their towns.

2019-09-29 04:03:51 UTC

@UnfilteredGarbage i'll talk about this more in a bit, busy rn

2019-09-29 04:03:58 UTC

Victory Through Incessant Occupation

2019-09-29 04:05:06 UTC

@Calbeck thats actually what i think is the best plan for solving the sandland problem, but russia/china would complain

2019-09-29 04:05:25 UTC

yup

2019-09-29 04:05:51 UTC

@Eirshy the people who have a vested interest in not having the game pirated are still legitimate users of the game software, though. DRM oppresses 99% of its audience for the benefit of the designer, just like a castle in that regard.

2019-09-29 04:06:18 UTC

Syria: people forget that Russia's there because the Assad regime provides them with Russia's ONLY Mediterranean port, and losing it would fly in the face of their national aims/goals going back to the goddamn Ottoman era

2019-09-29 04:06:36 UTC

@UnfilteredGarbage No, because the *castle itself is not oppressing anyone*

2019-09-29 04:06:44 UTC

Additionally

2019-09-29 04:06:49 UTC

@UnfilteredGarbage we need to rephrase this for his tiny brain

2019-09-29 04:06:52 UTC

THe castle isn't treating the peasants as enemies

2019-09-29 04:06:54 UTC

*standing guards*
