You had me at *if*.
@Jeremy the fucking desert
OIF and OEF
@Kealor hmmmm, I hadn't thought of it this way
The only perk being a new pair of boots each week.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Was the sign-on bonus decent?
Each week? I had the same 2 pair the whole time I was there
15k for me re up
And I got to go to Korea
Really? You must've not spent that much time on the ground in the ME, then. You trek around for a week, and you'll be down to the soles of your feet, but I suppose the longevity is dependent upon the issue, some more durable than others.
Right on.
Did you manage to spend any time in Busan, by any chance?
I was a mechanic
I didn't have to trek anywhere but to the hangar.
15N?
I went to Busan for 2 weeks and stayed in a Korean barracks to ship 24 Chinooks to be refitted to the new Golf models
15U
Working on the CH-47s, eh?
Must've been a blast.
They're good birds
That, they are. How was the stay in Busan? Find yourself a Korean a mare for a time?
😏
Ah, yeah, I had myself a little love bird out there at one point in time.
I got to go onto town twice. I was stuck in the port the rest of the time, eating MREs and from one of those portable mess things. I forget what they were called, but the ones the cooks kinda fold out into a chow line
I wasnt very sociable in the military. It took me a long time to get used to humanity
A DFAC?
Mostly barracks ratted it up
@Jeremy no that would imply a more permanent structure. I mean the portable kitchen trailer thing that they boiled C rats at :p
Man, that's a terrible way to spend your time in Busan, as there's plenty of young, European women about, ready for the picking.
A SERT?
Well I didn't have an option. No transportation and the port was far away from town
I dunno, like I said I don't remember the name if there was one. I wasn't the for leisure, I was there for a specific mission
I was stationed at Humphreys
One of these
Are any of us *really* accustomed to humanity as it is, anyway? I understand what you mean, though.
Yeah, that looks like a SERT.
It took me a long time to develop a decent personality and not be able to/ want to interact with people much. I'm still very solitary and insular, but not to the degree I used to be.
