there are huskies, chihuahuas, labradors, etc.

And now there's only one left (which is us, homo-sapiens sapiens)

It was an example to help you visualize how there used to be different kinds of humans just like right now, there are different breeds of dogs

they're all dogs, but they are sub-divided into different breeds

So, because they're all part of the same species, they can reproduce with one another, just like how some homo-sapiens sapiens reproduced with neanderthals

Basically, yeah.

So, yeah, I wouldn't say that we've evolved from apes, but rather, somewhere down the line we had similar ancestors.

ALSO, apes (chimpanzees I think) are currently in the beginning stages of the stone age (or something along those lines)
