@Gamer man boy boy boy man Do we consider the types of racism from minority communities to be coming from the left? I understand that main stream leftism has a lot of blatant well known racism, however in some minority communities you wouldn't believe the types of racism and beliefs that go on.

2019-09-21 22:40:59 UTC

I just wouldn't classify that as a typical leftism but I'm not sure how other people see it.

If he wasn't a software engineer I would have zero fucking clue who that was.

I wonder if you know who my grandfather was, but I'm reluctant to divulge his name, given the eyes that're on this server.

2019-09-21 22:41:12 UTC

Oh, yeah. The hispanic community is a great example of that.

2019-09-21 22:42:04 UTC

I'm of African descent but I moved to The US as kid and I've seen some shit @Brokkr . Especially between the African American and Hispanic community.

2019-09-21 22:42:26 UTC

Right. There's a lot of tribalism.

2019-09-21 22:42:48 UTC

Especially in small communities

2019-09-21 22:42:54 UTC

@Jeremy Don't do anything to dox yourself. I'm sure I'm too stupid to know though. I'm socially retarded.

2019-09-21 22:43:21 UTC

@Brokkr
"On a segway to another topic....it is a strong belief of mine that the US Civil War would have happened regardless of slavery....but that if the cotton gin had been invented 20 years sooner that war would have happened much later.
One of the reasons I hold this belief is: Expansionism. Every time a state was added to the overall union the North and South would be at odds over power. No different than Democrats and Republicans in our bipartisan system today."

I agree with you there, as the split between federalism and anti-federalism is as deep now as it was then, and it always will be.

2019-09-21 22:43:29 UTC

It's odd. If you're hispanic and an outsider hates on you...you're ALL up in arms. The moment there's no longer a common enemy if you're from Costa Rica and they're from Mexico all bets are off.

2019-09-21 22:44:03 UTC

In _low income areas_ where there is a lot of gang violence tribalism is pretty much mandatory

2019-09-21 22:44:24 UTC

Bc you need a strong sense of family and protection

2019-09-21 22:44:55 UTC

To keep your family alive

2019-09-21 22:45:10 UTC

On a side note, I've gotten much more constructive relationships...at large...with people born in Africa that come to the US than ones born here who choose to hyphenate.

2019-09-21 22:45:38 UTC

I'm not sure about the hispanic community but arent a lot of African american families "broken" in general though? I'm not sure they have a lot of emphasis on family

2019-09-21 22:45:58 UTC

Poor communities in general, Newt.

2019-09-21 22:46:13 UTC

The ghetto, the barrio and trailer parks are nearly identical.

2019-09-21 22:46:23 UTC

Minus the melanin.

2019-09-21 22:46:23 UTC

And @Brokkr I notice that a lot too. However I'm not from Africa, I'm from the UK. My father is from the UK and my mother is from the states

2019-09-21 22:48:05 UTC

The native Africans I went to engineering school with are very different from the people who were born here but it's mostly cultural differences. They have to work hard to come here so the entitlement complex isn't there.

2019-09-21 22:48:23 UTC

I think the government has a lot to do with why those communities are so broken. When there's a social safety net (See Welfare) then families are not encouraged to stay together. Just as one example.

2019-09-21 22:48:43 UTC

@nimble_newt, that's correct, and collectivism and isolation seems to remain a steady force among minority communities. The attitudes now are likely worse now than they were during the race wars. Tribalism is very much alive, and that's what holds their communities back, themselves and a rejection of societal wide norms and values required for opportunity and civilized social relations.

2019-09-21 22:49:32 UTC

You see rampant rejection of participatory conduct in education by their peers.

2019-09-21 22:49:39 UTC

Rejection of literacy, paired with an embrace and glorification of criminal behavior.

2019-09-21 22:50:31 UTC

I grew up on base. For the most part, racism was a new concept when I joined civilian life. Even then it really wasn't really tangible until I moved to NC.

2019-09-21 22:50:38 UTC

When I said families I meant more just groups of people who trust each other in a hierarchy and new members are taught the groups traditions. Gangs are metaphorical families whith the same structure is my point

2019-09-21 22:51:21 UTC

Correct, Gamer. That's also a reason why the KKK prospers still. Same ideology on a larger scale.

2019-09-21 22:51:41 UTC

@nimble_newt, as for doxxing, I've likely already done so. I'm not as concerned for myself than I am family members.

2019-09-21 22:52:17 UTC

@Jeremy That is true in a lot of ways but not completely true in others.
I didn't last very long in North American Public schools. The other African American kids made my life hell.
I talked funny, I did my homework, and my Father was bi-racial.
I was huge target.
I still don't understand why it happened. I never understood the hatred I experienced. I thought I was part of the tribe by being black (or biracial myself) but I was an outsider.

2019-09-21 22:52:49 UTC

Yep.

2019-09-21 22:53:29 UTC

It's due to the fact you didn't adhere to the social norms and values of that regulate the social behavior seen both within black culture and their communities, in America.

2019-09-21 22:53:46 UTC

They saw you as a classic example of an "Uncle Tom."

2019-09-21 22:54:45 UTC

This is why I am not a proponent of hyphenation. Not unless you are a first or second generation immigrant.

2019-09-21 22:54:49 UTC

@Jeremy Suppose that's what didn't make sense to me. I assumed the tribe was "all black people" It's still strange. That's a weird form of collectivism. It almost seems like it wasn't based on race at all

2019-09-21 22:55:11 UTC

Simply because you wanted to participate, simply because you achieved good grades and likely visited the library, just as any rational individual would in pursuit of opportunity.

2019-09-21 22:55:16 UTC

Right.

2019-09-21 22:55:34 UTC

It was all behavioral. I got my ass beat every day after school. But White kids who adopted their behavior was okay. They'd get shit on sometimes but I got the worse bits of it

2019-09-21 22:55:51 UTC

Well, social behavior correlates with identity, as identity serves as the most effective means of reinforcing behavior within a particular group.

2019-09-21 22:56:08 UTC
2019-09-21 22:56:09 UTC

They're more susceptible to social influence by the group than they are someone perceived to be outside.
