the others are land locked

they only sailed on the coast and in the mediterranean

by the 1600s, they were sailing across the atlantic i believe

i dunno, there's gotta be some voyages where they had to cross through atlantic storms

and u always hate neighhours worse

i think it would've been an investment to make a ship tougher in case of storms

even a giant ocean liner can't withstand some storms
