Artillery can be useful firing into jungles if you know where you're shooting. Infantry can't exactly move fast amongst thick shrubbery.

Jungle cant do shit if you burn it down

buildings can burn easily but the fire wont destroy the building most times

cities can protect the soldiers from artillery fire

from any means of killing enemies

but they are full of civilins

and every stray shot

every hit

every bit of collateral damage

puts civilian lives at risk
