As far as I am aware, yes. Most pick up their chosen instrument, teach themselves or get lessons and then start a band.

We never brought up lessons, only schools and musical education
The point is, you can pick up a mic and do hip hop without any formal training, no school, no teaching, nothing, just completely self-taught, and you can have success today
