lol

2019-07-20 08:36:40 UTC

I don't think it was that simple, look

2019-07-20 08:37:14 UTC

Metallica had a way of telling stories with their songs, they didn't fit into the stereotype of a metal band that makes a number of 5 minute songs and be done with the album

2019-07-20 08:37:17 UTC

Metal elitism has been here since the beginning too. Go back to the early days of thrash. "Kill posers" and whatnot.

2019-07-20 08:37:44 UTC

wut fuk dis ain't metol

2019-07-20 08:37:48 UTC

mentol is ded

2019-07-20 08:37:51 UTC

I mean, yes and no. Metallica did what a lot of bigger bands did then too.

2019-07-20 08:37:55 UTC

ayyy only laik album x y z

2019-07-20 08:38:00 UTC

q w e r t is gae

2019-07-20 08:38:23 UTC

carach angren took telling stories in songs to new lvl

2019-07-20 08:38:29 UTC

Judas Priest told stories in songs, Iron Maiden, even Motorhead.

2019-07-20 08:38:44 UTC

they tell stories in albums <:powerful:595334910764515338>

2019-07-20 08:38:47 UTC

exactly @HunDread

2019-07-20 08:38:48 UTC

Yeah sure others did it, too, but Metallica had their own way

2019-07-20 08:38:53 UTC

fucking somebody getsit

2019-07-20 08:39:01 UTC

I really don't see how.

2019-07-20 08:39:29 UTC

Ok for example

2019-07-20 08:39:52 UTC

The level of complexity in a Metallica song of the old days is pretty damn high

2019-07-20 08:40:11 UTC

complexity level like what, 7?

2019-07-20 08:40:14 UTC

lol

2019-07-20 08:40:16 UTC

Ehm. Led Zeppelin

2019-07-20 08:40:19 UTC

Maybe in Master of Puppets and And Justice for All, sure

2019-07-20 08:40:35 UTC

But Kill Em All and Ride were pretty basic

2019-07-20 08:41:19 UTC

I mean KME was their first album, it's not exactly fair to say that's their peak

2019-07-20 08:41:35 UTC

Never said it was their peak

2019-07-20 08:41:44 UTC

Metallica's peak doesn't even have Cliff in the band

2019-07-20 08:42:30 UTC

It's 89-91 with their amazing live shows, especially with all the material they had to perform with.

2019-07-20 08:42:58 UTC

I'd actually call Ride one of the more complex albums, at least in third place

2019-07-20 08:43:23 UTC

St Anger was Metallica at their peak

2019-07-20 08:43:30 UTC

reeeeeeeeeee

2019-07-20 08:43:32 UTC

Stop beimg edgy Frost 😄

2019-07-20 08:43:38 UTC

I just don't see how Metallica is all that complex. Especially when you have a band like Judas Priest or Maiden in the same world.

2019-07-20 08:43:45 UTC

Being troll isn't edgy

2019-07-20 08:43:57 UTC

Uhm, well

2019-07-20 08:44:10 UTC

Heck, Hirax or Heathen were more complex

2019-07-20 08:44:12 UTC

Ok, trolling CAN be edgy, but that wasn't

2019-07-20 08:44:17 UTC

I guess it's a bit subjective maybe

2019-07-20 08:44:17 UTC

Both first wave thrash bands.

2019-07-20 08:44:43 UTC

My own training was in classical music, I don't actually know metal as more than a fan

2019-07-20 08:44:47 UTC

I also don't think complexity is needed for a band to succeed.

2019-07-20 08:44:56 UTC

So maybe I just hear other things than metallers do
