Every empire was mostly rural back then.

hmm
city states werent rural
very populated centers like greece werent rural
@Tonight at 11 - DOOM the desertification was there even before the Aswan damm
all of the wold was overwhelmingly rural until the industrial revolution
Greece was rural
greece was too shitty for farming
most certainly
to be anywhere near as rural
as your typical place
most of their eco WAS farming
I think it happened somewhere in the medieval area
most of their food was traded for or fished tbh
least the city's food
they didnt have a ton of land either
yes, city trades with countryside
and what they did have wasnt the best quality
but most places are not cities
they also trade with foreign cities
and fish
and city states own vast lands for farming
Athens was an exception
relatively vast maybe
because it was basically an Imperial overlord over oher city states
and took their shit
athens only had an empire for a small period of time
yes
before they got raped by sparta
and became a minor regional power again
but they are the only example of a really big, and largelly non-rural society in Anceinet Greeece that I know of
there were sevaral non rural places tho
venice of course
the rest is very much rural
and ur full o shit
go read the Iliad
i have read the illiad tbh
Their CULTURE emphasized the virtue of farming ur own food
