this is what everyone is excited about? 😂

2019-07-15 10:11:04 UTC

28000 for every ship

2019-07-15 10:19:02 UTC

its being treated like crowdfunding pledges
you pledge x amount you get this ship, you can earn ships in game, but every 3 months or so a new update comes out, which resets your inv as if you had just started an account after buying a ship. Eventually when it is released they said they will stop wiping inventories at each update and you wont be able to pay to buy ships any more

2019-07-15 10:19:35 UTC

$28000 for pixel ships

2019-07-15 10:19:50 UTC

you could buy a new car for that

2019-07-15 10:19:59 UTC

elite dangerous is similar iirc

2019-07-15 10:20:10 UTC

yeah i wouldn spend that much, especially on a game in alpha

2019-07-15 10:20:47 UTC

star citizen just sounds like a scam tbh 😂

2019-07-15 10:20:48 UTC

i guess it could be viable for huge clans or factions or whatever who could have thousands of players to spend that much on capital ships and stuff

2019-07-15 10:21:08 UTC

because a single person cant really run a ship designed for dozens

2019-07-15 10:21:19 UTC

and pushed back since 2014

2019-07-15 10:22:02 UTC

yeah people kept giving them money so they kept promising to add more features which takes more time

2019-07-15 10:22:22 UTC

eventually they gave up on adding new stretch goals at $65 million IIRC, its at 250ish million rn

2019-07-15 10:22:29 UTC

what's taking time is all that cocaine they gotta snort

2019-07-15 10:22:30 UTC

they have so much

2019-07-15 10:23:24 UTC

crowd funding games are awful because of loose budgets

2019-07-15 10:24:00 UTC

no one can manage a project with constant increase of budget and no way of knowing when it's going to stop

2019-07-15 10:24:01 UTC

probably half of the dev time was just trying to get a singleplayer game engine to run an MMO lol

2019-07-15 10:25:22 UTC

and general expansion, they went from 13ish people to 500+

2019-07-15 10:25:32 UTC

if you want to crowd fund a game make a clear cut off where the money stops

2019-07-15 10:25:34 UTC

which is still tiny for a AAA game studio, and even more so for what they are promising

2019-07-15 10:25:53 UTC

and then run it with a solid and constant budget

2019-07-15 10:26:07 UTC

or else it becomes clownish

2019-07-15 10:26:14 UTC

and the project falls in on itself

2019-07-15 10:26:33 UTC

and that's if you even get funded in the first place

2019-07-15 10:27:10 UTC

they are gonna use profits from a singleplayer campaign game they are developing rn to fund the main multiplayer game

2019-07-15 10:27:23 UTC

although im not sure that will be enough

2019-07-15 12:35:23 UTC

>scam

2019-07-15 12:35:40 UTC

Meanwhile, they employ a full workforce

2019-07-15 12:36:09 UTC

And have developed a large amount of content as it is

2019-07-15 12:36:34 UTC

And also

2019-07-15 12:36:39 UTC

Realistically speaking

2019-07-15 12:36:58 UTC

After getting so much *unexpected* crowdfunding

2019-07-15 12:37:15 UTC

They basically had to reimagine the entire scope of the game and start from scratch

2019-07-15 12:37:44 UTC

And uh

2019-07-15 12:38:22 UTC

6 years for developing a big project in *traditional* workforces is not unheard of either

2019-07-15 12:58:04 UTC

>$28000 for pixel ships in a game that was slated to be released 5 years ago and still hasn’t been

2019-07-15 12:58:18 UTC

>not a scam

2019-07-15 13:01:06 UTC

I mean overgrowth was in dev for like 10 years

2019-07-15 13:01:12 UTC

and that got realsed

2019-07-15 13:03:15 UTC

Clearly you've never played EVE
