Also remember that attribs are better than skills in general

2019-08-10 20:28:15 UTC

I spent 2 points each on skills and Attributes, 3 on meta type, and 1 on money, 2 on Magic.

2019-08-10 20:29:44 UTC

Attributes are currently sitting at 8 Body, 5 Agility, 3 Reaction, 8 Strenght, 2 charisma, 3 Intiutioin, 1 logic, 3 Willpower, 1 Edge, 4 Magic.

2019-08-10 20:30:30 UTC

No decisions made yet on Skills, Karma (Positive or Negative) investments, Money spent or Adept Powers taken.

2019-08-10 20:34:48 UTC

The 2 points on Skilsl gives me 28 skill points, and 2 skill groups to buy, as I understand it.

2019-08-10 20:37:48 UTC

I need some help pinning down what to pick up for skills/skill groups, Karma, and Adept Powers. Maybe a bit with gear.

2019-08-10 20:59:37 UTC

Well

2019-08-10 20:59:56 UTC

I do recommend always having at least one reliable ranged and fast stopping skill like pistols

2019-08-10 21:00:11 UTC

Easy to get, cheap, and will do in a pinch

2019-08-10 21:00:56 UTC

I'm leaning toward having the character favor duel weilding drum fed shot guns. The idea being there Comically oversized revolvers for something in a Troll Sized Range. (Also cause it's a Pink Mowhawk Game.).

2019-08-10 21:01:46 UTC

With that strength, I'd also look into bladed weapons, which include polearms

2019-08-10 21:02:19 UTC

Hmmmmm,

2019-08-10 21:02:55 UTC

I have 2 skill groups, maybe just spend one of them on Close Combat and be good at basically any weapon I can get my hands on?

2019-08-10 21:04:21 UTC

Also why go with 3 INT and 1 LOG

2019-08-10 21:04:37 UTC

Arn't they sort of redundant?

2019-08-10 21:04:54 UTC

They are radically different stats

2019-08-10 21:05:06 UTC

What's the difference on them?

2019-08-10 21:06:09 UTC

OH! god, Intution! I was inthinkg INT was IntellegencE1

2019-08-10 21:06:11 UTC

!

2019-08-10 21:06:16 UTC

Logic boosts totally different skills

2019-08-10 21:06:32 UTC

I've played too much D&D.

Initution is the one that effects initative and common sense, right?

2019-08-10 21:06:55 UTC

Attributes only matter for STR, BOD, and limits unless you are a technomancer or a rigger

2019-08-10 21:07:08 UTC

Skills are what do most of the actual work

2019-08-10 21:07:27 UTC

(You want more attributes though, because you want HIGH limits)

2019-08-10 21:09:06 UTC

Uh.... a roll is Attribute + Skill

2019-08-10 21:09:22 UTC

They're both important

2019-08-10 21:09:28 UTC

Attributes also key your limits

2019-08-10 21:10:16 UTC

Though if you're using anything techy you're probably using the limit set by the equipment instead

2019-08-10 21:10:28 UTC

Unless you're a techno or mage then your brain is the equipment

2019-08-10 21:12:37 UTC

The biggest reason to value attribs more though
It's more expensive to get them up later

2019-08-10 21:12:48 UTC

Will attribute also matters a lot, it's pretty much always part of your drain/fade soak, good chunk of magic resist, affects composure (iirc), and a bunch of other miscellaneous things

2019-08-10 21:13:06 UTC

Which is the big reason I hate non-karma-buy chargen in shadowrun

2019-08-10 21:13:25 UTC

Punishes you for not minmaxing the fuck out of yourself at chargen

2019-08-10 21:13:28 UTC

Have you even seen the EXP buy

2019-08-10 21:13:59 UTC

Also Lifemods work decently well

2019-08-10 21:14:01 UTC

Yeah it's ~800, which actually lets you more easily be above-average compared to the priority system

2019-08-10 21:14:16 UTC

The only thing that's needed

2019-08-10 21:14:29 UTC

is you have to treat racial minimums as 1 instead of whatever they are

2019-08-10 21:14:35 UTC

otherwise nobody will ever play a troll or ork

2019-08-10 21:15:07 UTC

That's a problem with point buy too, point buy just hides it if they get their higher BOD/STR at chargen

2019-08-10 21:15:28 UTC

Haven't messed with lifemods
