I hate that they make out you're buying games when you're renting them

2019-07-11 23:06:27 UTC

the trouble is steam library functionality dies as soon as theres no working client, so you can never delete anything. thats not steams fault, you should back up your machine

2019-07-11 23:06:31 UTC

Read the fucking EULA.

2019-07-11 23:06:33 UTC

Please.

2019-07-11 23:06:36 UTC

I beg of you.

2019-07-11 23:06:41 UTC

Please read the EULA.

Shove the EULA up your distended anus, Gespa

2019-07-11 23:07:02 UTC

2019-07-11 23:07:08 UTC
2019-07-11 23:07:24 UTC

2019-07-11 23:07:32 UTC

we literally had a massive argument

2019-07-11 23:07:34 UTC

and i need to bully a communist

2019-07-11 23:07:36 UTC

how much more active does it need to get

2019-07-11 23:07:37 UTC

It is active. Fuck off.

2019-07-11 23:07:41 UTC

mainly that

2019-07-11 23:07:44 UTC

lol

2019-07-11 23:08:03 UTC

well im going to play a game now. at least this convo was more fun and less dumb than, for example, media matters articles on how tim pool is right wing

2019-07-11 23:08:11 UTC

@Eccles I mean, you purchase the games. And you own them.

2019-07-11 23:08:15 UTC

nothing touches leftivists for dumb takes.

2019-07-11 23:08:22 UTC

@Gespa by his logic

2019-07-11 23:08:26 UTC

if it isn't open-source

2019-07-11 23:08:28 UTC

it aint "owned"

2019-07-11 23:08:34 UTC

in my opinion

2019-07-11 23:08:42 UTC

Steam rarely if ever deletes user accounts, the only ones it does are those that are using them for criminal activity. That’s literally the only thing you can’t do on steam.

2019-07-11 23:08:46 UTC

you get the product

2019-07-11 23:08:49 UTC

and it can break

2019-07-11 23:09:09 UTC

Fuck even VAC bans don’t disable you from using the service, just stops you from playing on VAC protected servers

2019-07-11 23:09:12 UTC

it is even clearly defined *how* it can break

2019-07-11 23:09:46 UTC

But the thing is most games are steam ARE open source

2019-07-11 23:09:58 UTC

Literally nobody cares

2019-07-11 23:10:05 UTC

no they arent

2019-07-11 23:10:22 UTC

Well not open source but open

2019-07-11 23:10:25 UTC

My bad

2019-07-11 23:10:32 UTC

?

2019-07-11 23:10:39 UTC

DRM-free you mean?

2019-07-11 23:10:48 UTC

Nah, let me explain

2019-07-11 23:11:28 UTC

Because of how steam’s integrity validation works, most of the game files have to be open or otherwise easily accessible so they can be read by the server and then compared to the most recent (or in the case of betas, the cached) version so that it can be repaired or reinstalled

2019-07-11 23:11:42 UTC

uhhh

2019-07-11 23:11:43 UTC

no

2019-07-11 23:11:49 UTC

they just run a checksum
