It was the being forced to change that made me fall out with Steam because of the way they ended the support
Ironically it was Microsoft -sensible- decision to allow the installation of WIndows 10 without a license key that saved me
i dont think win10 will run on my main laptop, and win 10 is a dumpster fire anyway
@system11 Windows 7 has already reached its manufacture end of life, but steam won’t abandon it for a while. A major stake of its user base still uses windows 7
i mean the out of support for OS updates EOL, not sure when that is
Can't be much longer, System11
yeah im sure MS will force the issue soon
It’s already happened
I have an old laptop running W7, it's got the specs to run W10 but won't because W10 is buggy and there is no value for M$ in fixing it
But both Microsoft and steam realize that many users still use it, so the plug isn’t pulled
if it had already happened i wouldnt have pending security updates from microsoft
It’s already happened. Probably just scheduled.
my laptop is 9 years old so not sure if win10 will even work on it. it was top of the range at the time and i cant find -anything- available with a screen as good
if it's got 2gb of ram, it should
but chance are it won't because fuck M$
Ah forgive me, I got my dates mixed up. It’s January 14th, 2020.
its the nvidia display hardware id worry about
you shouldn't, it's well supported
no
W10 works on everything
it'll be the bios that'll fuck you up if anything
it definitely will
the BIOS is unaffected
you dolt
hasn't it offered you a w10 upgrade via windows update?
thats why i never replaced the laptop, ive replaced a few parts here and there
W10 installer has issues with some legacy bioses, Coolitic, it's why it won't install on my old laptop
it works on legacy BIOS
Mate the BIOS is just the boot system of the motherboard. Has nothing to do with operating systems.
you have to select the option
Yes, it does, but not all of them
there are ways to install it properly
the bootloader is not an issue
Well that's not Microsoft are telling me
is there a bootable dvd win10 'tester'?
uhh
You can download the iso's from their website, System11
I dont think they have a Live CD
To my understanding Microsoft no longer offers direct upgrades for windows 10.
Windows update on my laptop says otherwise, Gespa
