you have nuff of a population base and geography

and resources on top of that

to be able to field a navy that can dominate the seas

and you have lots of starting capital

because of history shenanigans

you will be very sucessful

your success will breed more success, as ur cities grow so does their attractiveness and the opportunity ppl can find in them

so you get all the entrepreneurial and smart ppl

you then become MORE rich

and then

you are rich enough that if someone else starts to become rich as well

you have enough power to fuck them in the ass with their own mother's pocket knife

Trade starts with demand, if demand doesn't exist, trade doesn't happen
You trade only if you need a specific resource, and you only offer the resources that you need less off, otherwise you have no incentive to trade

why would they do it?
