Pretty much, just look at their obsession with the ending of nuclear power
They're so obsessed with that, they don't even care about the science
@Cesare Anasazi neither is German culture. I still am an individualist. I am still anchored in this world to enough to a degree to understand, that I am the product of trillions of actions, uncounted vicotries and mistakes.
@ETBrooD oh I know... same with climate change stuff
Actions of my ancestors have nothing to do with me. I can respect them if they did good but there's nothing to be proud about them for me.
But I don't think this is a uniquely German experience, it's the same here in Austria and many other countries
Austria is actually a perfect breeding ground for complete maniacs, I don't know why
@ETBrooD "WE MUST DO IT".... when... it's not just useless to tackle, it's impossible to do.
(the impact is minor, I read the literature on that one... the increased output of the sun has more of an impact.)
My grandfather fought the Zwentendorf AKW (nuclear power plant) until it was stopped. He was a madman.
@ETBrooD oh yeah... especially Vienna... whenever I hear someone came from the university at Vienna, I avoid them.
We had a serial bomber, we had a guy who jailed his daughters in his cellar
And we produced Hitler
A small little country in the center of Europe, looking peaceful af, producing all these nutjobs
xD yup
@Cesare Anasazi you may delude yourself, but you will not do so to me, man.
sorry.
Off topic, I actually agree with many objectivist ideas, but I don't think our achievements are largely disconnected from our forefathers. I completely reject that idea.
Doesn't mean original sin should be a thing, but to deny that the human experience is not purely individualist seems foreign to me
@ETBrooD such a statement is objectively untrue.
morally, no. but in any other way.
Which statement?
"achievements are largely disconnected from our forefathers"
@The Objectivist Dollar then make a statement of opinion, not of fact.
Well, illustrate how am I connected to my grandgrandfather who was a baker in russian empire then killed by bolsheviks in USSR
Like I said, I disagree with that statement, too
you may reject the way your forefathers acted, or disagree, or say that they're morally disconnected from you, but you cannot say, that their actions are disconnected from you.
What other connection other than moral, is there
We have similar genes, that;s about it
that is more than enough.
I'm confused
Based austria
I said I disagree with the statement that our achievements are disconnected from them
Austria is good for skiing
Genes mean nothing tho
what does that even mean
@Cesare Anasazi really?
Uhhh
Tell that to a cystic fibrosis patient 🤣
if genes meant nothing, why do they decide basically everything?
Me and my brother have similar genes. I'm a rich engineer, he's a former drug addict now working as carpender
