All humans do things for profit of some sort. Charity isn’t an exception. Regardless of whether giving away time or resources simply makes you feel good, have a better image or pleases a worshipped deity, you always attempt to get something out of it greater than what you give. Even if the desired profit is psychic instead of physical, profit seeking is present in every human action.
