Watch people buy stuff in the US. They walk up to a brand name then see a generic and go "Yeah I'll pay three times as much for the label"

2019-07-19 17:52:25 UTC

In fact, I bet if you made that one change alone it would probably make a huge dent in the issue

2019-07-19 17:52:58 UTC

Honestly I think it probably would.

2019-07-19 17:52:59 UTC

that also gets into making advertising drugs illegal. I am on the fence for that one

2019-07-19 17:54:00 UTC

Our system is good for that:

I think that advertising drugs should be limited to a doctors waiting room

2019-07-19 17:55:14 UTC

I'm on the fence about advertising it to healthcare professionals

2019-07-19 17:55:37 UTC

With generic informative commercials being okay like talking about the drug without branding.

2019-07-19 17:55:45 UTC

With that legislation in place, I don't think I've ever seen or heard a drug advertisement on the radio or on the television

2019-07-19 17:56:16 UTC

Doctors should be advertised to but it needs to be by a licensed professional

2019-07-19 17:56:25 UTC

Not someone who just walked off the street.

2019-07-19 17:56:27 UTC

Doctors should be informed.

2019-07-19 17:56:36 UTC

They should know about the latest drugs which have been released.

2019-07-19 17:57:03 UTC

I think that advertisement is closely linked with lobbying

2019-07-19 17:57:11 UTC

But that's somewhat a separate issue

2019-07-19 17:57:48 UTC

Again I don't think advertising is a problem when its done by people who are doctors themselves.

2019-07-19 17:57:55 UTC

Or pharmacists.

2019-07-19 17:58:12 UTC

Ben Carson is a doctor. I don't trust his word on jack shit.

2019-07-19 17:58:39 UTC

He's personally liable if gives medical advice even if it's off the cuff.

2019-07-19 17:59:44 UTC

If you want to raise the bar make the sales person liable.

2019-07-19 18:08:32 UTC

@Jokerfaic you know who else is a doctor?

2019-07-19 18:08:56 UTC

Ron Paul?

2019-07-19 18:17:30 UTC

Oh dear

2019-07-19 18:17:51 UTC

I highly doubt the British government will 'play ball' as they need a win back home

2019-07-19 18:18:17 UTC

@Weez tbh british seized an iranian tanker going to syria

2019-07-19 18:19:43 UTC

Which was bound for Syria, violating EU sanctions

2019-07-19 18:23:09 UTC

Why couldnt they just use the suez canal

2019-07-19 18:23:39 UTC

Suez is monitored quite heavily

2019-07-19 18:24:21 UTC

They would also need to go through the Red sea

2019-07-19 18:24:29 UTC

Makes sense

2019-07-19 18:24:31 UTC

Which is de facto under American control

2019-07-19 18:24:39 UTC

Hence they went around Africa to avoid that.

2019-07-19 18:26:44 UTC

Iran is desperate to sell its oil, which is a massive part of its economy.

2019-07-19 19:02:03 UTC

I wonder what Irans plan is here..

2019-07-19 19:02:53 UTC

Iran: "Well we already pissed off the biggest military in the world. How about we piss off the second biggest navy?"

2019-07-19 19:05:06 UTC

Oh yeah Iran is denying that america shot their drone yesterday

2019-07-19 19:09:50 UTC

I think they are trying to escalate the situation, create some preassure to make people return to the original deal. A calculated move, they want to stay in the media news channels, remind people that they are still there.
And I would trust Iranian state media as much as the North Korean state media.

2019-07-19 19:10:13 UTC

Or any other state run media.
