Magneto's whole backstory, is literally being put in a concentration camp and then they discovered his super powers. Thus they attempted to turn him into a weapon for the Nazi's, leading him to become an assassin for the soviets for a number of years, before defecting to western europe.

He's basically got the ability to absorb the genetic material of mutants to gain powers.
He's also got some robot bodies and stuff

IE if he gets your blood, etc. he can steal your powers. So Sinister has tons of robot body doubles, clones, healing factor, etc. incase he dies
