That's just dumb
We shouldn't go to war for money, but in the long run with technological innovation, it's usually a net positive
agan, when its off and on
The internet, nuclear power, radios, comptuers, all were developed in the military
not just fuckin on, period
A high military budget leads to innovation
And also the war has died down to a crawl
We are in an occupation phase in iraq, like after WWII in germany
But, just because it costs something, it doesn't mean it doesn't cost less than the inevitable war of the future, as the regimes expand, threaten the globe and conduct genocides.
that's called exhaustion, bud, its a sign to fucking stop
We didn't hand back control to germany over their own military until like 1986
Now I'll be called a Neocon. 😉
The unemployment rate is down, wages are up, everything is great
Also I wouldn't dress in drag and read to children
I might dress in drag though
it's free money
I mean if you could improve your nation's GDP by like 10% just by dressing in drag for a little while, wouldn't you do it?
What kind of argument is that
It's a weird hypothetical
wages haven't budged an inch next to cost of living, and corporations are buying their own stock in broad daylight
Who cares if they buy their own stock? Also wages are up for one of the first times in 12 years
Big deal.
Who cares?
American conservatives aren't super-capitalist
dunno where this shit is coming from
How is their buying their own stocks not capitalist?
do you understand how stocks work?
brainlet?
a company that buys its own stock creates an artificial inflation in that stock's price. its invented fucking wealth, and its happened before
This is even the new york times
They're allocating their own scarce resources how they see fit.
Property rights, dimwit.
If it's real money buying their own stocks, then it'
s real money
allocating your own resources is fine
Like, steve jobs can buy stocks from his own company, or Jezz Bezos or whatever, and it's not really damaging
people being stupid on the stock market is, well, stupid
you can't directly fix stupid
Also, it benefits the companies, as they're able to then retain more earnings, perhaps later investing in research to cure the next disease your grandmother contracts. Who knows? That's none of your business what they do with it, anyway.
