I'm from the US, but I believe the European Union should be reduced back to a trade commission rather than a gov't of bureaucrats who stand above existing gov'ts who have their resources sapped, preventing them from handling their own problems.

I want more independence between the european nations without the need to rob countries of their say in how they operate.

I still think its possible to keep an open borders agreement, your Euro buck, and the trade deal. But you just shouldn't have a gov't ontop of gov't and make decisions in a manner where bureaucrats who aren't elected by the people make decisions.

Well, in the case of some people i've spoken too - they think its like turning europe into a gov't similar to the US. Which they don't care about the means, so long as the 'results' are the same.

I see it more as stepping beyond the boundaries of its original purpose and into the realm of being an organization doing a power grab.

I just see it as, there's a way to do things and a way not to do it.

Well, I could see the EU working if the democratic revolutions of the 1800s succeeded but they didn't follow the french model. Of which many of the revolutions were following the french model.
