so, going through this thread, this clearly wasn't made to further public discourse

2019-08-24 19:49:35 UTC

Hm?

2019-08-24 19:51:35 UTC

its taking literally any position the left, or specifically democrats as of late, have espoused---not even only as policy, but sometimes as conjecture---and just applying arbitrary penalties to it. It's not doing anything to argue how Capitalism is a better solution for these issues, and relies very heavily on on the player simply believing out of hand these things are socialist ideas

2019-08-24 19:52:46 UTC

The twitter thread?

2019-08-24 19:52:49 UTC

yes

2019-08-24 19:53:15 UTC

specifically the pictures, because I'm taking the OP's commentary as conjecture as well

2019-08-24 19:53:18 UTC

Yeah people are narrow-minded and quick to jump to any answers prematurely

2019-08-24 19:53:37 UTC

2019-08-24 19:54:50 UTC

idk what people expected when a corporation made a game about socialism

2019-08-24 19:54:58 UTC

the "minimum wage" is paying a community fund to a private bank, which is the perfect thing to set off socialists

2019-08-24 19:55:15 UTC

doesn't the game even advertize itself as being a satire?

2019-08-24 19:55:26 UTC

no idea

2019-08-24 19:55:39 UTC

Yeah on the box

"adult parody board game"

2019-08-24 19:56:06 UTC

the amazon page calls it an "adult edition", but really its not much more mature than college marxists

2019-08-24 19:56:24 UTC

Cards against humanity is a degenerate game, change my mind

2019-08-24 19:56:28 UTC

I'm guessing that dude who bought the socialist monopoly and is whining about how bad it is thinks the original game wasn't a full on mockery of Capitalism...

2019-08-24 19:57:14 UTC

not so far, just posting photos of various cards and rules and wingeing

2019-08-24 19:57:40 UTC

2019-08-24 19:58:18 UTC

I wonder if any socialists bought that game thinking "ahh yes, now I can convince my friends of the power of communism through board games"

2019-08-24 19:58:45 UTC

And we can use the funds to fuel our cause!

2019-08-24 19:58:57 UTC

you gotta love people who don't know jack shit... but hey he's got a link to harvard... gotta give him credit for... I don't know something.

2019-08-24 19:59:12 UTC

Being an elite?

2019-08-24 19:59:12 UTC

he goes into how apparently the idea for "monopoly" was originally a georgan feminist comedians idea called "landlord's game", people can feel free to confirm or debunk this on their own time

2019-08-24 20:00:08 UTC

```Of course the great irony here is that that the game we now know as "Monopoly" originally started out as "The Landlord's Game," invented by Georgist feminist comedian Lizzie Magie to satirize capitalist rent-seeking... 17/
But then the game was stolen by a male capitalist, made even more brutally and unironically captitalist, and sold to Parker Brothers, who later abused the legal system to get around copyright laws in a classic case of...capitalist rent-seeking. 18/```
2019-08-24 20:00:45 UTC
Thats how ideas were capitalized 100 years ago
