....mmmmmaaayyybe
way too long ago
That one was ok
I mean, it was after the insufferable River Song storyline
yeah, definitely
Once they finished that terrible OC, the show became a bit better
fuck, that got old fast
She does appear in one christmas episode with Capaldi, but it's tolerable. Because it's only one episode.
As for that season you stopped in, it has some generic filler, then one of the weakest episodes ever (written by Chibnall, the current showrunner, who wrote like 5 episodes in total and). Then Moffat decided to make the weeping angels even less scary and over the top. And the second half is actually pretty ok.
It also switches Amy and Rory for Clara, whom a lot of people hate, because she'S got another arbitrary plot thread tacked on her (resolved in the season finale and the 50th anniversary) and she's doing much better as a character once that is gone and forgotten
Ah, angels in new york, no I saw that one
Hmm
So you almost finished Smith then
I suppose
In all likelyhood I may have jumped a few episodes
memory on it, again, is unreliable
Jumping episodes will just confuse you even more
Have better recollection of Tom Baker's run
CYBERPUNK MULTIPLAYER YAH OR NAH
Well, S8 has Capaldi and it's pretty capable as far as modern who writing goes, even though that'S not saying much. He's extra stark compared to Smith and there's one small but memorable scene between him and Clara at the end of the first ep
The episode In the Forest of the Night however has no fucking point and it takes the whole episode to figure out there's no point
And Listen can go fuck itself because it has great first half and totally subpar second half
Yea, so that season is like half good, half lower end of mediocre
S9 has a good twoparter intro, solid if stretched twoparter after that. Then some episodes with Maisie Williams (with extra punchable face) and then there is the zygon two-parter
The zygon two-parter is easily the best
No idea why they didn't make it a finale. It's really reminiscent of RTD era.
Including a doctor speech at the end. Who doesn't like doctor speeches?
Then there is Sleep No More, which is a found footage style episode that sacrifices basic logic for being edgy. Thus, it can go fuck itself
I see 8 and 9 and all I think of are the movie doc and Eccleston
That'S why I say S8 as in series :P
Loved Eccleston
The finale of S9 has one introductory episode and a twoparter and unlike every other finale before it's very, very lowkey. Actually took me two watch attempts to get it properly, but the first one was with someone at 1 AM so that took its toll
"being rude again"
"good, this time I meant it"
Oh yes, Eccleston ... that's the doctor you really appreciate when rewatching
"nothing can get in"
"then how do we get out?"
".......ah......."
and he keeps the smug grin with the line
that seals it
you need a doctor that looks proud of himself until he realises he's not quite as smart as he thinks
Capaldi's final season starts mediocrily (Smile is a good one tho) , then it inexplicably throws a pretty wicked threeparter in the middle (the ending sucks, they win because the power of love, but the rest is worth it) and then it gets mediocre again until the finale. Which features all sorts of cybermen and the Master. And a black hole andtime dilation. Also the Doctor finally figuring out if he's a good man or not.
And then as far as I'm concerned no new episodes were made <:smugon:512048583806025739>
Capaldi has great moments too. In one episode they land on a ship and as the crew is explaining the situation (involving a captured dalek), the Doctor is going straight for the cell, ignoring most of what everyone is saying and it goes like
Clara: "I'm his carer-"
12: "She cares so I don't have to."
Hah, ok, like that one
