There are humans on the sea, just not advanced enough Ships to travel very far as if you were going across the atlantic or around to China. For humans the Known world isn't all that "Huge" either. The longest distance Humans will go with their ships would be like crossing the North sea.

My setting is basically an alternate of Earth with much of the Mediterranean world action occurring on an isolated continent

It was intended to straight up just be Earth but I was "kindly" informed I could not have Earth and medieval kingdoms with mythological creatures being real

In my setting Kingdoms in the european area are named after the most dominant City of the region

For me I had Armor stop at 13th Century Chainmail suits and plate-helms. Armor above that (Plate Armor) is made using Alchemical Metal that was found by the Dwarves and later used and produced by the Ondomirii once the Dwarves died out.
