and why we are not quite yet into surplus
looks like scotland is losing pace https://www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/sites/default/files/chart-images/Tax%20revenue%20by%20nation%20since%201999.png
Need to scrap VAT on fuel
the vat part is only 5% I think
17.5% on diesel and petrol
theres all sorts of other taxes in fuel
sorry 20%
Either way, fuel isnt' a luxury, it's an essential, scrap VAT on it
depends on what you mean by fuel
heating oil, diesel, petrol, gas
your energy bill for your home is 5% vat
5% too much
More important to scrap VAT on fuel than to increase the tax-free allowance
vat is a tool you want to keep in the emergency case of a recession
if there is a recession they can reduce it to 15% or something
Nobody is suggesting scrapping VAT entirely, just removing it from essentials where tax is disproportionately affecting the poor
and further if necessary...
if you reduce it now it wont be as effective
Then you want to keep people poor
Tax breaks for the wealthy, fuck the poor up the arse - it's the Tory way
its not fckin the poor ... its being responsible
its telling people they can have desert when they finished their meal
its telling the kid they cant have another chocolate bar, theyve just had one
It really isn't though
youre not starving the kid... youre being responsible
I can't afford to upgrade the heating or insulation in my house, yet the council fleeces the fuck out of me so they can give grants to already wealthy private landlords
we're in one of the wealthiest nations, its not like we're not offering free housing etc
Give tax breaks to the wealthy instead of reducing tax on essentials
yeah I need to upgrade my heating too...
Tax the working class in order to give wage subsidies to corporations
How about stop doing all these things?
the boiler here is the one that was put in when the property was built... they dont do parts for it anymore
luckily thanks to the tories I have a bigger personal allowance, plus they scrapped ftb stamp duty, which saved me about 10k
its not enough for me to afford a new boiler... but its something
Tories have done fuck all for me, except make the cost of purchasing property continue to rise out of affordability, and raise the cost of various planning procedures to an extortionate rate
housing has never been affordable
Why should I support a party that doesn't give a fuck about me?
support who you lke
Certainly doesn't share my principles and ideology
Perhaps i'll vote Labour after all
