I don't like that we have to keep terrorists in the country if their country of origin is shit
article 10 para 1: you have free speech! ... para 2: if your nation doesnt like what you say they will arrest you
There's only 1 absolute right in the convention
Right to freedom from torture
i don't want them here
the UN article of human rights are much more simple... just defines your rights, nothing about "exceptions"
but I also don't want to send people back to their country of origin for petty offenses or possible made up ones from a leftist gov
That happens anyway
idk man
They get blocked if there's a suspicion that they'll be tortured
i'm with you in spirit
but i'm also a bit on the fence about how we could implement whilst also coving our own asses from future govs
also .. they copied the rights on marriage... but for some reason they skipped out the word "consenting" adults
I mean any parliament can choose to revoke the HRA at any point
parliamnet could choose to do a lot of things
but it might not be political feasable
we both know that boris could have come up with many ways to make brexit happen on brexit day
but he didn;t
because it would cause problems
on the topic of european courts
https://www.theguardian.com/law/2012/sep/18/strasbourg-judges-indeterminate-sentences-unlawful
and instead of the right to own property ... you have "the right to 'enjoy' property"
i'm hearing this guy was let out because of this ruling
abolishing IPP
Uh oh
woooow
So this might come up in political discussion soon then
500 year sentences now then
the top trending on twitter is basically "british bad" "immigrants from poland great!"
> made because 80% of our funding comes from central government
That's funny
wow, maybe we should stop central government from giving money to councils
> He spoke about the removal of "indeterminate sentences for the protection of the public" which meant that if "found guilty of a very serious terrorist offence, you will not be released until you can persuade the authorities that you are no longer danger to the public."
the IPP sentences the ECHR ruled against?
Need to throw him a little respect for pulling that front and centre i guess
if he actually blames the ECHR
and not the tories
I wonder if this event will convince some people to change teams?
he blames 'the decision from the government to get rid of' it
idk
i dont know enough about the topic
