Actually, what happened to that game that was kinda like Chicago 1930 but with added crime empire building?

2019-10-27 21:23:57 UTC

Aw yea, Empire of Sin

2019-10-27 21:24:13 UTC

Hm, to be released in 2020

2019-10-27 21:27:41 UTC

Oof, VR LA Noire.. but.

2019-10-27 21:27:50 UTC

Then I gotta get a VR rig..

2019-10-27 21:28:41 UTC

Hrm.. Omerta is a topdown set during that timeframe IIRC.

2019-10-27 21:29:10 UTC

Well, honestly, part of the draw for me is the entire from Chicago thing.. >.>

2019-10-27 21:29:59 UTC

Same folks behind Tropico 6.

2019-10-27 21:30:11 UTC

Erm, Tropico series. XD

2019-10-27 21:30:11 UTC

Well, Chicago 1930 is set in Chicago too. Obviously <:Veemote:501103628883591188>

2019-10-27 21:30:49 UTC

Though, that reminds me of another toward then top of the bucket list.. Fallout Tactics.

2019-10-27 21:31:29 UTC

Hm, Chicago was made by Spellbound, who also made Robin Hood: Legend of Sherwood and it was a natural evolution, since Robin Hood was pretty much like Commandos

2019-10-27 21:31:44 UTC

But 11th or whichever century. Nice game.

2019-10-27 21:31:55 UTC

But it occured to me I don't know any other games from them.

2019-10-27 21:32:25 UTC

Sound semi-familiar.. but tip of the tongue style.

2019-10-27 21:32:30 UTC

Well that's because they didn't make much

2019-10-27 21:32:48 UTC

The Desperados series and one of the many, many, many Gothics

2019-10-27 21:33:12 UTC

Arcania and Fall of Setarrif

2019-10-27 21:33:44 UTC

I still find it hilarious how the Gothic rights and actual dev team got split between 2-3 studios so they just continued making Gothics under a different name

2019-10-27 21:33:56 UTC

Hm, nonetheless, I'll add it to the mental *list*... which is a number of *lifetimes* long at this point.

2019-10-27 21:34:49 UTC

@Xaverius 13th Century.

2019-10-27 21:35:34 UTC

Robin Hood and his Merry Men are often portrayed as living during the reign of king John, which would place them in the early 1200's.

2019-10-27 21:35:48 UTC

Fair enough

2019-10-27 21:36:14 UTC

@Laucivol Feel you, pretty sure my list still has games from early 2000s on it

2019-10-27 21:37:04 UTC

*Only* as far back as early 2000s. XD

2019-10-27 21:38:04 UTC

Well, that's when I got me first PC so unlike my friends I hadn't much attachment to 90s games

2019-10-27 21:38:38 UTC

There are some from the 80s there that're worth the thought.

2019-10-27 21:39:01 UTC

Not that I don't like Blizzard classics (or, games from the time Blizzard was still Blizzard). And Heroes III is pretty much on the list of best games ever for me <:smugon:512048583806025739>

2019-10-27 21:39:01 UTC

If only because of "Yeah. I beat it." cred.

2019-10-27 21:39:40 UTC

And let's not forget Dungeon Keeper. That shit was fairly revolutionary

2019-10-27 21:39:46 UTC

I'm still hooked on Alpha Centari, myself.

2019-10-27 21:39:57 UTC

Yeah, DK is the shit, as well.

2019-10-27 21:40:13 UTC

Talking about revolutionary, I like how half the spacesim games in the 90s had procedurally generated content (Daggerfall too) but it was hailed as this great new invention a few years ago <:Veemote:501103628883591188>

2019-10-27 21:40:52 UTC

Yeah, the difference was dimensionality & fidelity versus the days of yore.

2019-10-27 21:42:13 UTC

Also, Diablo has procedurally generated dungeon crawl..

2019-10-27 21:42:28 UTC

The focus shifted to shiny graphics, I think.

2019-10-27 21:45:23 UTC

I fully blame advanced 3D and 7th gen consoles for this.

2019-10-27 21:46:25 UTC

They existing kinda coincided with gaming getting into mainstream and the birth of modern ways of making games, or as grognards call it, dumbing down

2019-10-27 21:48:23 UTC

:/

2019-10-27 21:48:35 UTC

I hate being hipster, but yeah. I agree.

2019-10-27 21:49:01 UTC

Also, praytell, what's a grognard?
