2 years from this in fact

2019-11-21 19:35:01 UTC

And from the very day Valve invested in the VR industry

2019-11-21 19:35:15 UTC

indeed

2019-11-21 19:35:29 UTC

It was obvious that they needed to push VR, because they knew that VR wouldn't sell well

2019-11-21 19:35:51 UTC

So, they used their highest grade card and the strongest community

2019-11-21 19:35:56 UTC

The Half Life community

2019-11-21 19:36:15 UTC

They knew that they are the most die hard fans and would totally buy that shit

2019-11-21 19:43:40 UTC

They technically used us

2019-11-21 19:44:15 UTC

I mean I am happy

2019-11-21 19:44:33 UTC

But it's sad that I'll never be able to play it

2019-11-21 19:44:44 UTC

Unless I get rich somehow

2019-11-21 19:56:24 UTC

It'll get ported back into Ep2 or GMod or some shit. Talk of a flat debug mode, a hypothetical at the moment but it makes sense that the devs would have such a thing.

2019-11-21 19:57:03 UTC

Maybe UE4.

2019-11-21 20:05:04 UTC

the game going to be in sorce 2

2019-11-21 20:08:57 UTC

@Nat

> compare the tree texture and model

And? Apple v Orange. It's like saying Picasso is worse than Michelangelo because his paintings were less realistic.

2019-11-21 20:11:54 UTC

a-

2019-11-21 20:12:18 UTC

are you joking

2019-11-21 20:12:20 UTC

are you actually retarded

2019-11-21 20:12:30 UTC

look at it, it's a fucking LOD model

2019-11-21 20:12:44 UTC

look at it, it's a fucking LOD model

2019-11-21 20:12:48 UTC

fucking discord is being slow

2019-11-21 20:12:52 UTC

@Nat Only if you are able to explain why.

2019-11-21 20:13:20 UTC

here you go friend, this is how LOD works

Stop speaking geek.

2019-11-21 20:13:32 UTC

the further you get away from an object in a videogame, the less detailed it gets 🙂

2019-11-21 20:14:08 UTC

because if every object in the game world had the highest detail version, your computer most likely couldn't handle it. 🙂

2019-11-21 20:14:17 UTC

the further away objects, when looked at up close, look terrible. like that tree does.

2019-11-21 20:14:18 UTC

> Nat used confusion
> it's super effective

2019-11-21 20:14:25 UTC

less polygons, less pixels in the texture

2019-11-21 20:14:56 UTC

you can stylise and look cartoony, but even stylised and cartoony games have LOD models, which again, look worse than the models that are up close. 🙂

2019-11-21 20:15:09 UTC

does your feminoid brain comprehend it yet, fish market? 🙂

2019-11-21 20:15:31 UTC

does your feminoid brain comprehend it yet, fish market? 🙂

2019-11-21 20:17:46 UTC

Like, I get it that stuff that's closer to the player requires a better resolution, but how does that come into play?

2019-11-21 20:19:49 UTC

the tree just looks like a LOD model, that was literally all i was saying. it looks awful, like something you're meant to only see in the distance where you can't tell how bad it is

2019-11-21 20:20:30 UTC

So we agree that the tree looks bad?

2019-11-21 20:20:38 UTC

That's not the point though.

2019-11-21 20:21:17 UTC

"And? Apple v Orange. It's like saying Picasso is worse than Michelangelo because his paintings were less realistic."

2019-11-21 20:21:22 UTC

you didn't say it looked bad

2019-11-21 20:21:28 UTC

you said it looks like picasso

2019-11-21 20:21:43 UTC

or the equivalent of, rather

2019-11-21 20:22:50 UTC

but whatever, apparently we agree <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898>
