According to the strictest interpretation of the US constitution Trump is corrupt... he should be impeached for corruption... B U T... if the standard for corruption was brought back to its original conception "corruption, or the apperence of corruption", the entireity of Washington would be culled for corruption as well.

Originally in the US corruption wasn't something which needed to be proven to have occured, but merely needed to 'appear' as corruption. ie if an arrangement could be interpreted as allowing a theoretical quid pro quo, then the arrangement itself was worthy of impeachment...

But that was changed by the supreme court...

Which led to corruption in the US being what it is today...

If just the appearance of corruption can be used to remove someone from office, than anyone could be removed just by the media or whoever ginning up enough concern. Appearances shouldn't be used to remove someone, as it isn't proof of guilt, and it would allow any evil people to take over just by leveling baseless accusations. This is entirely what the left's strategy is, right now, even without such a rule.
