Surely it is much more authoritarian to tell the people that the Government has set some laws that can never be changed ever.
Rights make sure people are allowed to do basic things or not have them done to them
In some circumstances mob rule is authoritarian, by your logic the nazi party wasn’t authoritarian because that was voted in.
lol you used the definition of rights, to argue why rights don’t exist
Until the government says they're no longer a thing @Burly Bong
Then your "rights" dissapear
And you realise they were simply privileges.
but they would still be a thing, it's just that the government was authoritarian
There is nothing in the USA stopping the removal of the constitution.
Just because authoritarian governments exist doesn’t mean rights don’t
uh, a gun behind every blade of grass is
Sounds like mob rule
The majority of people want to keep it in place.
The majority want it like that
So they're doing that
Mob rule over human rights isn’t good that’s what I’m arguing
>Mob rule
***Laughs in Electoral College***
Who knew America was mob rule?
Any Democracy is pretty much Mob Rule to some extent
how is republicanism mob rule
The US is slightly different but the idea is the same
The majority of people voted the Nazi party does that mean they didn’t violate hjman rights cause if people want to gas the Jews they should be allowed to
Instead of the majority of people deciding everything the majority of electoral college votes decide everything
We don't care if they violated those rights or not.
We don’t care about the Holocaust?
People voted for that
So was it ok?
I don't care about it, no.
No cause mob rule over human rights isn’t a good thing
Bruh
Edgy
I don't care about it either tbh
Why would I? It was a generation ago..
Fundamentally if the people voted for it, it should be implemented, We shouldn't just let the Government create some laws that can never be changed
Missing my point though
Should the people be able to do what they like in their own country? Yes.
That is very close to authoritarianism within itself to just say that the people are not allowed to get rid of some laws
Does that mean they can do things I don't like?
Yes.
Does it mean I like that?
No.
But I believe they have the right to do what they want in their homeland.
