I bought all gods pack for smite too
but with 3k hours clocked on that shitshow of a game, it was at least worth the money. Partially.
For me it was worth not having to spend 200 crystals on a voicepack
Because they did that after the "release"
I heard since they changed it back to gold, but it's probably some ridiculous sum
Nice insult after they were like "but we can't allow different voicepacks with different skins *like it used to be* because it would confuse new players".
Yet the crystal-only voices meant everyone was running around with the default announcer voice 👌
Stadia: Gender Neutral Controllers.
Blizzard.
'would confuse new players'
That was a great excuse, wasn't it
Smite tries to have exclusive voice pack on every god skin
Stadia: Gender Neutral Controllers.
Blizzard.
so that idea is shat on by themselves
Well, that too.
But it doesn't matter to me
Having bought the pack I was tolerating that and pitying the fools who didn't experience the glory days of beta
a glitch in SMite's systems gave me about 280 free chest rolls of a certain chest, giving me almost every item available in the game up until that point (including all voice packs, all newly added voice packs because I still have some left, and all emotes)
Oh, nice
just a shame that they've swept that chest under the rug because it having every item didn't work out when that meant people could actually use that chest to get some items cheaper than they should
and oh no we can't have people getting things for playing the game
Nothing like that in Paladins that I know of, unfortunately.
The main jewery were the "events". Which in hirez parlance means "time limited skins, buy, BUY".
They then started putting those skins into the most expensive chests, meaning the gross amounts of crystals you spent went mainly into loading frames because those sperg spangles are truly the one event-exclusive thing. Also I hate them, because every single one of them is spinning on flashing, it's for fortnite adhd kids.
Later on, if you sold your kidney so you could afford the entire "event" they introduced a vault key which yo ucould use to buy older event's skins. Cool, eh? No. Because each event they *added a new vault-only skin*
And then there's the battle pass.
Which was fine at the beginning even though to get rewards that aren't pointless you had to spend crystals to activate the better half of it.
However, they eventually figured out that people had crystals left over at the end, so they made them happen every two months instead of 3-4 and you barely get your crystals back if yougrind the whole thing + the regular login rewards
Yep
Also some "events" featured the great mechanic of having to buy a skin first so you could actually access the shop where you could spend the heavily grinded event coins
Which was top, especially since a select few emotes and sprays could be accessed through the normal shop.
They first had that in the halloween event where they got two sprays, which was patched in the christmas event... but you could do it with the emotes <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898>
But yea, while still autistic enough to grind the ranked rewards, I eventually gave up due to the rampant money-grabbing. It wasn't a hurdle in gameplay, but it just kept being really distasteful
Yep
I've always hated how smite handles greed
It started fine, just gating a few skins behind chests, keeping some direct purchuase, and having the yearly season pass with rewards
Then, the ~~fire nation attacked~~ season pass turned into 3 season passes you could buy
per year
and it all went south from there, and is now a shitty battle pass system with 6 per year
@Xaverius thanks, the guy voicing Edwards is a person from "If emperor had text to speech".
We've didcussed about some of the lines that were used for the teaser, but yeah... some of us were thinking it was too much others thought it was ok...
So yeah, people are quite divided in the comments too
(Sorry for late response)
@Shad As it is, it seems like it's either meant very seriously and overshooting, or that Edwards is a self-aware stereotype of a gruff action hero but the context is lost because it's only like 15 seconds.
If it's the first, you probably need to tone the voice intensity down a bit.
Or he's really really pissed because he spilled coffee into the elevator panel or something else that we don't get context for.
Like, if that's not his normal voice and style of expression, it's ok. If it is, somewhat less ok.
Quick example, the usual horror action protagonist looks around while saying "what the fuck" quietly and then addresses the ship computer or people over the comms in a normal voice, while Edwards goes "UAAA WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE"
Which in itself isn't bad, even kinda refreshing, but since we got only those few seconds, we can't place it wiht what normal Edwards is like.
