@Lucienne d'Anwyl most of armour was trench-oriented

2019-11-07 00:06:12 UTC

..... Sloped armor increases the effective thickness, , if it's super thin it's still not stopping shit- the increase in effective thickness is a multiplier.
Also the bigger issue isn't necessarily stopping a non-AP bullet, it's absorbing the kinetic impact. Stopping a penetration only converts the damage from piercing to blunt.

well no shit lol

2019-11-07 00:06:32 UTC

Though that boxy armour was a brainchild of a literal bootleg gangster

2019-11-07 00:06:36 UTC

if you go out in no mans land youre dead dead dead

2019-11-07 00:06:40 UTC

It was an effective armour too

2019-11-07 00:06:53 UTC

Also of note

2019-11-07 00:07:02 UTC

there were no bootlegging gangsters pre ww1

2019-11-07 00:07:03 UTC

We don't use metal plate armor pretty much at all any more

2019-11-07 00:07:05 UTC

the fuck you talking about

2019-11-07 00:07:05 UTC

even on tanks

2019-11-07 00:07:17 UTC

tanks are typically bullshit ceramics and stuff

2019-11-07 00:07:21 UTC

Actually Lucy

2019-11-07 00:07:33 UTC

Bootlegging gangsters have existed since the dawn of time

2019-11-07 00:07:44 UTC

you know

2019-11-07 00:07:44 UTC

that

2019-11-07 00:07:44 UTC

ceramics

2019-11-07 00:07:44 UTC

are usually made

2019-11-07 00:07:45 UTC

with metal

2019-11-07 00:07:45 UTC

right?

2019-11-07 00:07:47 UTC

Idk what you’re talking about

2019-11-07 00:07:55 UTC

bootlegging

2019-11-07 00:07:59 UTC

as in the term invented

2019-11-07 00:07:59 UTC

And I say "bullshit ceramics" because they follow completely different rules than steel plate armor, such as some preferring direct-on hits rather than angled hits.

for prohibition era methods of smuggling

2019-11-07 00:08:26 UTC

Doesn't matter that they've got metal components, what matters is that you have to handle them completely differently from steel plate

2019-11-07 00:08:31 UTC

Ceramics have tricky physics

2019-11-07 00:08:50 UTC

you handle a lot of things differently than steel plates

2019-11-07 00:09:02 UTC

you handle things that arent steel plates differently than steel plates

2019-11-07 00:09:05 UTC

xD

2019-11-07 00:09:07 UTC

I like this mashup a lot

2019-11-07 00:09:11 UTC

question thio

2019-11-07 00:09:19 UTC

how long till we get 40k pauldrons

2019-11-07 00:09:27 UTC

ceramic tile alone won't work
