You always need sunscreen when you’re white

2018-10-26 00:49:37 UTC

Granted if it’s the fall or winter, I don’t put sunscreen on as much since I know the suns angle isn’t as direct

2018-10-26 00:50:29 UTC

But in the spring and esp the summer, 15 mins exposed is enough time for me to get burnt, if it’s enough time for me to get burnt I not only prematurely aged my skin but I have also increased my chance of skin cancer

2018-10-26 00:51:21 UTC

And no thanks I’m white so I don’t want darker skin nor do I want wrinkled skin or cancer

2018-10-26 00:52:41 UTC

Also this is another myth that people need direct sunlight to get vitamin D, they don’t. Indirect sunlight is enough. So in the summer not only do I wear dark clothing & sunscreen, I also use a parasol so even though I am shaded, so long as I’m outside I am getting vitamin D

2018-10-26 00:54:22 UTC

I understand that white men are less concerned about premature aging and skin cancer but I a white woman am very much on the lookout for that & I would appreciate looking like I’m in my 30s when I’m 40 rather than older.

2018-10-26 00:56:59 UTC

Also, any darker skinned person has more melatonin that’s why they are more resistant to the suns harmful effects in regards to cancer but they also don’t prematurely age as badly; their darker skin acts like a sunscreen.

The best way to receive sufficient UVB rays to facilitate vitamin D synthesis requires a balance of enough sun, but not so much as to increase the risk of skin cancer. Just a few minutes of exposure a day provide enough UVB to kick off the vitamin D process. People with darker skin need more time in the sun than those with fair skin, due to their skin’s melanin, which impedes absorption. Researchers suggest spending five to 30 minutes in the sun between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. twice a week, to replenish your vitamin D stores. For people at higher risk of skin cancer, or for people with sedentary, indoor lives, supplements work as well.

Location, season and physical blocks can prevent UVB absorption. Regions north of latitude 40, running horizontally from northern California to New York City do not receive sufficient sun rays from September through May. In addition, anything physically blocking the sun’s rays impedes vitamin D synthesis, such as clothing, sunscreen with a sun protection factor higher than 15, coatings on windows and clouds in the sky. People with darker skin also require more sunlight, as their higher amount of melanin reduces their UVB exposure.

As I said

Indirect sunlight

2018-10-26 02:31:21 UTC

I would know this better than any man

2018-10-26 02:32:51 UTC

If I were to go outside for 15 mins without protection I would tan, if I tanned, specifically on my face, I would have not only created a premature aging, but would set in the past acne scars on my face

2018-10-26 02:34:23 UTC

It is always recommended for white people specifically, in the times of spring and summer especially that they wear sunscreen. it's sunSCREEN. Like putting a screen over your skin

2018-10-26 02:34:47 UTC

it doesn't block the sun, it filters out harmful rays that will either damage or age your skin

2018-10-26 02:36:54 UTC

I'm getting really sick of people trying to say, out of ignorance, that tanning is good. Tanning is never good. Obtaining vitamin D from the sun and tanning are two different things entirely. When a person is tanned, that always always ALWAYS means they have gotten too much sun exposure. Us with fair skin are literally cooking ourselves even for a tan. So no that's another lie from the mainstream media that I got my facts on.

2018-10-26 02:46:12 UTC

I live in ND at the moment and we don’t get much Vitamin D so I make sure to take some Vitamin D so it helps fight Depression because in the winter we can get very little sun.
