in fact most interviewees either never showed up or never came back
Well, I mean, Pacific NW. My little sister moved up there and became a plumber. Then she became a lead. RN her company is trying to keep her because they gave her an instructor offer at the local trade school. But she has the normal MidWest work ethic...
Warehouse wanted to keep me because I was there long enough to have learned all the floor roles and even some office operation, but I needed to get the fuck out of Oregon, and that job would have killed me eventually
no fucking priority from main branch for maintenance, constantly under-capacity regarding employees, absolutely no climate control
the pay was fantastic, but also being taxed at Oregon rates
Your sister no doubt shared the gorey details about that
its not exactly something than can avoid mention for long
yu guys wanna pway sum mimescwafts?
wE nEeD a LiViNg WaGe
okay... but what's the customer price per unit?
surely this device couldn't have been a mere commodity investment
Considering you can replace the entire cooking section of a restaurant with just that and it will work 24/7 you can cut store staff
Thing probably pays for itself after about a year
okay... but how does it handle toppings?
special orders
half/halfs
Its like a pizza cnc machine dude
light/extra sauce/cheese, etc
You input parameters and off it goes
It probably handles that stuff better than a human staff the same way cnc machines can be more accurate than any human mill
fuck that's horrific
You just have one person operate it and handle specials
A couple delivery drivers and youre good
Till the delivery system is replaced by drones
Tbf you almost wouldnt even need an operator half these websites and apps have a build your own pizza tool
You just have the tool input straight into the ckmputer and cut out the middle man
that middle man being fucking jobs
This was the logical conclusion of technology though
Menial/low skill jobs are easy to replace and with all the "living wage" whining it was inevitable
The robot doesnt even have to be perfect it just has to be better than a human
so just throw more people on to the street, great solution
technology's not at fault here, it'll keep moving whether we like it or not
its market forces I have a distrust of
As AI replaces more jobs its likely that we will have to create an entirely new economic system from scratch
its equally as likely those with the means to ride out civil unrest will just tell the rest of us to go get fucked
None of the old way of doing things will apply anymore
I mean that only goes so far tho
Depending on the scale of said unrest
Im in computer science so I am in the clear as far as that goes
Other folks may want to look at getting a not english literature degree
