They already have real political power
no they dont, extinction rebellion are fringe, its the corprate greta-train you need to worry about
ANd no, you couldn't. Replacing every petrol and diesel car in the UK with a Jaguar iPace would cost in the region of a trillion pounds
when i give ER the thanos gauntlet, then you can start to worry because they're going to mash that 50% button over and over
hypothetically speaking, best case scenario is a government incentive to buy electric
norway style
That's completely unfair, Crafty
i' m not saying what i want/agree with, i'm saying from their point of view
You're taxing the poor to give to the rich
Moving to electric cars right now prices the poor out of being able to travel
i wonder how much it would cost for the govt to subsidise every car switch to an electric one, footing the bill of whatever the equivalent model is to what the people would have bought instead
Ehhh... the new libdem leadership are undoubtedly sympathetic with ER but they're aren't going to ban diesel vehicles anytime soon
about a trillion pounds, system11
told you
so a fiat 500 buyer gets subsidised to buy a nissan leaf, or whatever
no, that was jaguar ipaces, those are expensive
ok, 750 billion then
leafs are about 30k unsubsidised
in many cases the difference is going to be 2-5k
nope
what
fucking hell
my car cost £4500, that's a £25k difference
many people buy cars in the sub £1000 range
whats the cheapest electric car atm?
about £30k
oh dear
And they have a lifespan of 7 years
typically
i honestly didnt realise theyre that overpriced
Aye
i looked at the ipace cost which isnt a million miles from other jaguars and assumed it was generally a small mark up
Imagine all the lorries having to switch to electric
well a) it isn't a small markup, and b) only a tiny fraction of the uk public buy their cars new
pretty sure they start at a lot less than £30k
though
It would be far easier, far cheaper, and far fairer to force all freight and public transport to switch to electric
i think battery leasing is going to be inevitable
not saying they're good
nobody has really thought about that one very much - what do you do with millions of used car batteries
