2019-10-16 17:06:26 UTC

i dunno the china collapse theories i've seen are just rooted in the idea that state planning is going to be their downfall or some such nonsense

2019-10-16 17:06:38 UTC

i wouldnt trust the numbers coming out of china

2019-10-16 17:06:40 UTC

2019-10-16 17:06:48 UTC

The China collapsing theories are pushed by idiots looking at China from a Western perspective @Death in June

2019-10-16 17:06:53 UTC

"They don't have freedom!!!!"

2019-10-16 17:06:54 UTC

2019-10-16 17:06:59 UTC

China basically never has had any

2019-10-16 17:07:11 UTC

What they're getting now is more than any basically in their history

2019-10-16 17:07:12 UTC

LOL

2019-10-16 17:07:15 UTC

2019-10-16 17:07:24 UTC

2019-10-16 17:07:40 UTC

They have to

2019-10-16 17:07:41 UTC

2019-10-16 17:07:42 UTC

the chinese are like ants

2019-10-16 17:07:58 UTC

They litteraly cannot say they dislike the government

2019-10-16 17:08:05 UTC

Or they will get in trouble

2019-10-16 17:08:25 UTC

2019-10-16 17:08:25 UTC

2019-10-16 17:08:39 UTC

2019-10-16 17:09:02 UTC

News in China: Everything is great in China 🙂

2019-10-16 17:09:03 UTC

Or outside, they have your family even if you somehow get out (like all those Chinese actors who are anti Hong Kong)

2019-10-16 17:09:44 UTC

And for most of history china was as free as or more free than the west. Probably until the enlightenment period in fact

2019-10-16 17:10:00 UTC

what do you mean by free

2019-10-16 17:10:17 UTC

^

2019-10-16 17:12:14 UTC

I mean, pre modern freedom is always pretty limited, but ability to choose life paths is the most notable difference. Most of the nobility was recruited for most dynasties. Furthermore physical mobility was far more tolerated, as in walking/riding to a different area, which was illegal for many in feudal Europe/Russia.

2019-10-16 17:13:00 UTC

Which was illegal because you were going into a different country, sure.

2019-10-16 17:13:06 UTC

Movement was fine because of the massive scale of China

2019-10-16 17:13:12 UTC

No I mean In the same country

2019-10-16 17:13:19 UTC

the way china governs now is very similar to how they governed under the philosophy of legalism back in 400-200~ bc

2019-10-16 17:14:12 UTC

England was better than most, but most people legally were barred from leaving their home towns except if they were drafted/given specific permission from their local lord. It was like this from the late Roman period to the middle enlightenment

2019-10-16 17:14:17 UTC

Anyway, it's been a VERY long time since the Chinese have had privileges like they do now

2019-10-16 17:14:20 UTC

So they don't really care

2019-10-16 17:15:15 UTC

Not really, you could make a case for the quin dynasty being better for them, or even the civil war

2019-10-16 17:15:18 UTC

was this true when china was feudal

2019-10-16 17:15:27 UTC

I guess really... it comes down to whether or not you think sacrificing things for a national identity or national purpose is a good thing or not....

2019-10-16 17:15:40 UTC

china moved past feudalism long before the west did

2019-10-16 17:15:55 UTC

The entire CCPs plan is to renew the 'Chinese identity'

2019-10-16 17:16:15 UTC

If by renew you mean destroy and replace
