Thanks!

Watch the foreshortening on his right leg though, the foot seems too small.

2019-02-09 01:53:19 UTC

just a wee bit

2019-02-09 01:53:25 UTC

You're probably right

2019-02-09 01:54:12 UTC

when I was making her*, I imagined the perspective to be much more pronounced.

2019-02-09 01:54:18 UTC

(Loving the background work though)

2019-02-09 01:55:07 UTC

I'm just starting with the background, there's almost nothing there yet

2019-02-09 01:56:17 UTC

Aye but the lighting on the clouds is nice

2019-02-09 01:57:59 UTC

thanks! I can't wait to color them

2019-02-09 02:17:45 UTC

@SneekiBreeki that's a lot of improvement in just one year, keep up the good work 👍

I am fake russian, that is true.

2019-02-09 08:52:59 UTC

Fun valentine, huh?

2019-02-09 09:17:13 UTC

Funny.

2019-02-09 09:17:42 UTC

Fun would be Весёлый, not Забавный.

2019-02-09 09:19:13 UTC

Altho there's no 100% eqivalent translation to word "fun" in russian.

2019-02-09 09:19:56 UTC

funny is definitely Забавный or Смешной tho.

2019-02-09 10:12:03 UTC

Yeah that sounds bout right

2019-02-09 11:01:17 UTC

Even tho i'm a fake russian, i'm pretty good at pretending to be a real one.

2019-02-10 01:57:40 UTC

It seems like this channel is not often used

2019-02-10 01:58:09 UTC

awww

2019-02-10 01:58:53 UTC

seems like a magnet for head pats!

2019-02-10 02:02:04 UTC

thanks : D

2019-02-10 02:02:12 UTC

that was my intention

2019-02-10 04:25:40 UTC

Probably because people were making the art get lost in shitposting. That should be less of an issue now with our new gallery manager. 😃

2019-02-10 10:28:22 UTC

@O.K It looks good, but i have one suggestion, if you're interested in a bit of criticism.

2019-02-10 12:03:57 UTC

@Bahrack Obamcuddah that's probably better placed in one of the general or politics channels than the art channel

2019-02-10 12:07:51 UTC

battle ready

2019-02-10 12:17:40 UTC

Ping me or <@&543752921234276382> if art is drowned by shitposts, they will be sorted asap. <:maulerHeart:339124719553085440>

2019-02-10 12:38:48 UTC

It makes me confused.

2019-02-10 12:39:06 UTC

Make it simpler, my mindbrain hurts.

2019-02-10 13:02:58 UTC

2019-02-10 17:34:10 UTC

@n0vitski of course I'm interested.
This is the main reason I'm posting my stuff here. There are bound to be people more experienced than me, and they may have some really good advice. : )

2019-02-10 19:59:55 UTC

@O.K So, about this piece, i'd suggest adding more color in the darkest shadows, since they just look black and grey. It's passable on the clothes, since they are pretty desaturated, but on the skin it looks really dead. You did a good job with reddish shadows on the face, but the hands and the arms - not so much. I suspect you're using multiply layer for shadows, and if so, it's really not a very great idea, since in the darker areas it tends to just kill the color, no matter how saturated the layer itself is. I would actually recommend for the most part to work with color in normal and not employ other mixing options for anything except for finish. Also, don't use the same hue for the shadows as you do for the lights, make it a bit colder, or a bit warmer, it will look more natural.

2019-02-10 20:01:00 UTC

Overall, black/grey shadows = bad, saturated shadows = great

2019-02-10 20:22:42 UTC

@n0vitski well, actually, as stupid as it may sound, that was the idea...
originally, all shadows were saturated, but I wanted to try and make her eye color pop a lot... so I put a brown (opposite of blue) overlay over the entire piece, and erased it around her face, so that everything except her face and eyes (and the stars in the background) is brown, which in theory, should contrast really well with her blue eyes. I guess it didn't work too well 😂

2019-02-10 20:24:18 UTC

I mean, they are pretty blue.
