that's not "most" by any definition
doesnt like
30 something percent of the population live in or near poverty
So, a 7 year span vs a 45 year span and the 7 year span has half is what I'm saying
poverty rates are at 14% on average, up to 20% in some states
that's millions of people
how long until they stand up and say "we can't take it anymore"?
Yeah but it means 86% of people or 80% are not in poverty
these are people with almost nothing left
nothing to lose but their chains, as it were
and the most dangerous type of person is someone with more to die for than to live for
and guess what?
You can't really have a revolution with 16% of the population
we have over 40 million people like that
you think it's just people in poverty who will revolt?
yeah they'll start
but then it'll be the people just above the poverty line
and then just above that
people realizing "this is a thing that can happen and is happening"
Well like I'm pretty much in the very middle, (52% of white male income) and I feel like I have a lot of money... Just need a girlfriend...
another world's possible, y'know
the automation we're all so afraid of could go towards helping everyone and not just a handful of people
revolution isnt only the poor and destitute but they make a good starting point
what are you afraid of?
I would maybe support socialism on peoples social skills. I am weak in that area even though I have some money. It would screw over people that have above average social skills though
Money isn't the only thing
idk what ur on about
If everyone has the same amount of money, there will still be people who are disadvantaged and unhappy
do you really think that socialism is giving everyone the same amount of money
My cousin is poor, but he has a wife and kids. So he has happiness in different ways than I do
when you talk to people who are against socialism about socialism, they never bring up worker organization
it's all "everyone is equal", just what the reaganistas told everyone it was
becausethat takes votes away from the GOP
if americans actually knew what socialism was then both parties would be ruined
nobody even knows of the history of organized labor anymore
@Apple O'Day look up some of the old IWW actions or the blair mountain strikes, it's interesting
I agree with your general principle, but I think the way to do it is to slowly put more and more automation, and have less workers with a higher salary. But, these Democrats want as many poor laborers as possible. In everyone's ideals, companies will have the same number of workers or less and have higher wages
Basically any way you slice it, unnecessary extra laborers will be poor and get screwed over, in your system or in my ideal
I looked up the iww and it seems like a very good idea
But once again, if you have Mexicans from Honduras willing to work for 8$ an hour, then you'll just be replaced with cheap laborers
